Investigating the impact of resilience, responsiveness, and quality on customer loyalty of MSMEs : empirical evidence
Nourhan Ahmed Saad, Sara El Gazzar, Sonja Mlaker Kač, 2022, original scientific article

Abstract: Due to the importance of the micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) sector and the negative implications of COVID-19, which resulted in decreasing resource availability, shortages of supply, declining consumer demand and requirements, and a lack of consumer satisfaction and loyalty, this research investigates the impact of resilience, responsiveness, and quality on customer loyalty in MSMEs. An online questionnaire was conducted on MSMEs’ end consumers in the Egyptian context. The analysis was conducted through Amos and SPSS, and the research hypotheses were tested through covariance-based structural equation modelling for 891 valid questionnaires. The findings exposed that there is a positive significant impact for operational resilience (flexibility and technology adoption), responsiveness (delivery fulfillment and speed and after-sale service), and product/service quality on customer loyalty in terms of behavioral, attitudinal dimensions. It contributes to understanding how MSMEs could enhance their sustainable performance (resilience, responsiveness, quality) to reach better customer loyalty. This research presents insights on how the MSMEs sector can adapt to the dynamic business environment in terms of COVID-19 crisis and consumer behavior, which has changed the nature and needs of the market and consumers. In addition, this research extends the theories of Resource-Based View (RBV), Dynamic Capability View (DCV), and Theory of Consumption Value (TCV) in an empirical contribution through filling the gap in understanding consumers’ needs in terms of resilience, responsiveness, and quality.

Investigating the impact of supply chain management practices on customer satisfaction through flexibility and technology adoption : empirical evidence
Nourhan Ahmed Saad, Sara El Gazzar, Sonja Mlaker Kač, 2023, original scientific article

Abstract: The aim of this research is to empirically investigate the influence of supply chain management practices (SCMPs) on customer satisfaction through the mediating rolesof flexibility and technology adoption. A questionnaire was used to collect data from organizational consumers in the Egyptian context, in which hypotheses were analyzed through covariance-based structural equation modeling for 1009 usable questionnaires. The findings revealed the positive relationship between SCMPs and flexibility, technology adoption, and customer satisfaction. Moreover, it revealed the positive relationship between technology adoption and customer satisfaction, however, the direct impact of flexibility on customer satisfaction is not significant. Empirical evidence also illustrated that technology adoption can significantly mediate the relationship between SCMPs and customer satisfaction.

High strain-rate deformation analysis of open-cell aluminium foam
Anja Mauko, Mustafa Sarıkaya, Mustafa Güden, Isabel Duarte, Matej Borovinšek, Matej Vesenjak, Zoran Ren, 2023, original scientific article

Abstract: This study investigated the high-strain rate mechanical properties of open-cell aluminium foam M-pore®. While previous research has examined the response of this type of foam under quasi-static and transitional dynamic loading conditions, there is a lack of knowledge about its behaviour under higher strain rates (transitional and shock loading regimes). To address this gap in understanding, cylindrical open-cell foam specimens were tested using a modified Direct Impact Hopkinson Bar (DIHB) apparatus over a wide range of strain rates, up to 93 m/s. The results showed a strong dependency of the foam's behaviour on the loading rate, with increased plateau stress and changes in deformation front formation and propagation at higher strain rates. The internal structure of the specimens was examined using X-ray micro-computed tomography (mCT). The mCT images were used to build simplified 3D numerical models of analysed aluminium foam specimens that were used in computational simulations of their behaviour under all experimentally tested loading regimes using LS-DYNA software. The overall agreement between the experimental and computational results was good enough to validate the built numerical models capable of correctly simulating the mechanical response of analysed aluminium foam at different loading rates.

ARM-Based Video Intercom System with Next-Gen Human Presence Detection using Deep Learning : magistrsko delo
Mario Gavran, 2022, master's thesis

Abstract: This master's thesis presents an advanced video system with human presence detection based on deep learning and an ARM microcontroller. The objective of the thesis is to develop a system that works as a smart video intercom, which could be installed, e.g. on the entrance door, and autonomously alert the owner that a guest is in front of the door. The main goal is to use an AI algorithm, namely the neural network model on a constrained device, such as an ARM microcontroller, as their main advantage is lower power consumption and cost. The thesis also describes commonly used methods to reduce the power and memory footprint and to implement and accelerate the deep learning algorithms more effectively. Further, the most notable deep learning hardware and some general platforms are described in more detail. The thesis also presents the development of a human presence detection system based on an ARM microcontroller, VGA camera, and LCD, where Tensorflow Lite Micro, an open-source C++ framework for deploying deep learning models to embedded platforms and a pre-trained neural network model for person presence detection are used.

Razvijanje naravoslovnih in digitalnih kompetenc v fiziki z bbc micro:bit-om : magistrsko delo
Peter Bernad, 2022, master's thesis

5th International Conference EnRe - Energy & Responsibility : book of extended abstracts
2022, proceedings

Abstract: The tendency to improve energy devices, the impact of environmental factors and the development of new technologies for the exploitation of sustainable resources contribute to the fact that we have witnessed intensive energy development in the last decade. The two most important Slovenian energy pools, located in Velenje and Krško, are at the turning point of renovation, and are facing major challenges in the design and planning of modern energy devices. The current generation faces a great ethical responsibility to leave their descendants a world with as little human impact on the environment as possible. Therefore, communication between experts and researchers, discussion and exchange of different views for the future is of the utmost importance, which is exactly the purpose of the EnRe Conference.

Micro-scale responses of granular materials under different confining pressures using the discrete element method
Mahmud Sazzad, 2016, original scientific article

Abstract: Biaxial compression tests were carried out on assemblies of ovals to study the micro-scale responses of granular materials under different confining pressures using the discrete element method (DEM). A total of 8450 ovals were generated in a rectangular frame without any overlap. Four dense samples were prepared from the initially generated sparse sample under different confining pressures. The simulated results yield a stress-straindilatancy behaviour similar to that observed in sands under different confining pressures. The evolution of the different microparameters and their inter-relationships are established. When the confining pressure is relatively high, the difference between the coordination number and the effective coordination number is very small; however, the difference is apparent for a low confining pressure. The microtopology of the granular assembly at several important states of shear is also reported. It is noted that the topological distribution of the granular materials is confining- pressure dependent. The normalized void-cell number is a minimum under the lowest confining pressure, whereas the same number is a maximum under the highest confining pressure. A linear relationship is observed between the normalized void-cell number and the effective coordination number, regardless of the confining pressures. The evolution of the deviatoric fabric for different confining pressures is measured and the macro-micro relationship is presented.
