Single-strain probiotic lactobacilli for the treatment of atopic dermatitis in children : a systematic review and meta-analysis
Sabina Fijan, Nina Kolč, Metka Hrašovec, Gro Jamtvedt, Maja Šikić Pogačar, Dušanka Mičetić-Turk, Uroš Maver, 2023, review article

Abstract: Probiotics are known for their positive effects on the gut microbiota. There is growing evidence that the infant gut and skin colonization have a role in the development of the immune system, which may be helpful in the prevention and treatment of atopic dermatitis. This systematic review focused on evaluating the effect of single-strain probiotic lactobacilli consumption on treating children's atopic dermatitis. Seventeen randomized placebo-controlled trials with the primary outcome of the Scoring Atopic Dermatitis (SCORAD) index were included in the systematic review. Clinical trials using single-strain lactobacilli were included. The search was conducted until October 2022 using PubMed, ScienceDirect, Web of Science, Cochrane library and manual searches. The Joanna Briggs Institute appraisal tool was used to assess the quality of the included studies. Meta-analyses and sub meta-analyses were performed using Cochrane Collaboration methodology. Due to different methods of reporting the SCORAD index, only 14 clinical trials with 1124 children were included in the meta-analysis (574 in the single-strain probiotic lactobacilli group and 550 in the placebo group) and showed that single-strain probiotic lactobacilli statistically significantly reduced the SCORAD index compared to the placebo in children with atopic dermatitis (mean difference [MD]: -4.50; 95% confidence interval [CI]: -7.50 to -1.49; Z = 2.93; p = 0.003; heterogeneity I-2 = 90%). The subgroup meta-analysis showed that strains of Limosilactobacillus fermentum were significantly more effective than strains of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum, Lacticaseibacillus paracasei or Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus. A longer treatment time and younger treatment age statistically significantly reduced symptoms of atopic dermatitis. The result of this systematic review and meta-analysis shows that certain single-strain probiotic lactobacilli are more successful than others in reducing atopic dermatitis severity in children. Therefore, careful consideration to strain selection, treatment time and the age of the treated patients are important factors in enhancing the effectiveness of reducing atopic dermatitis in children when choosing probiotic single-strain lactobacilli.

Text mining tourism literature
Ajda Pretnar Žagar, Tomaž Curk, 2021, published scientific conference contribution

Abstract: Literature reviews are essential for understanding a specific domain as they map the main topics of current re-search. Our aim was to provide a framework for retrieving articles from online databases and analyzing them in a single script. We provide the analytical pipeline as open-source (https://github.com/tourism4-0/BibMine). The main research focus was on analyzing 318 abstracts from scientific papers on tourism and innovation, which we report in Zach et al. (2019). We used LDA topic modeling to uncover ten main topics, which we analyzed using pyLDAvis visualization. We used saliency and relevance scores to determine the main words that de-scribe a topic. The uncovered topics range from climate change and land use to smart destinations, travel expe-riences, and ICT. We performed similar analyses for the term "stakeholders," where we also observed the main verbs related to the query. Since verbs best define an activity, we used them to determine how stakeholders are involved in tourism development. Finally, we analyzed papers with the keyword "technology," where energy efficiency, VR, web technology, and augmented tourist experiences were the main topics.

Razvoj obraznega filtra obogatene resničnosti za učenje stisov prsnega koša pri kardiopulmonarnem oživljanju : diplomsko delo
Kiril Krsteski, 2023, undergraduate thesis

Abstract: V diplomskem delu se osredotočamo na oblikovanje in razvoj obraznega filtra obogatene resničnosti za socialno omrežje Instagram, ki uporabnika ozavešča in uči izvajanja stisov prsnega koša in dajanja umetnih vpihov pri nenadnem srčnem zastoju.

Family history tools for primary care : a systematic review
Špela Miroševič, Zalika Klemenc-Ketiš, Borut Peterlin, 2022, review article

Abstract: Background: Many medical family history (FH) tools are available for various settings. Although FH tools can be a powerful health screening tool in primary care (PC), they are currently underused. Objectives: This review explores the FH tools currently available for PC and evaluates their clinical performance. Methods: Five databases were systematically searched until May 2021. Identified tools were evaluated on the following criteria: time-to-complete, integration with electronic health record (EMR) systems, patient administration, risk-assessment ability, evidence-based management recommendations, analytical and clinical validity and clinical utility. Results: We identified 26 PC FH tools. Analytical and clinical validity was poorly reported and agreement between FH and gold standard was commonly inadequately reported and assessed. Sensitivity was acceptable; specificity was found in half of the reviewed tools to be poor. Most reviewed tools showed a capacity to successfully identify individuals with increased risk of disease (6.2-84.6% of high and/or moderate or increased risk individuals). Conclusion: Despite the potential of FH tools to improve risk stratification of patients in PC, clinical performance of current tools remains limited as well as their integration in EMR systems. Twenty-one FH tools are designed to be self-administered by patients.

Uporabili smo predhodno sterilizirane in vitro poganjke sliv. Pripravili smo 4 različna gojišča. Gojišče G0 je bilo kontrolno gojišče (brez doda-nih rastnih hormonov), gojišče G1 z dodatkom 0,01 mg/l NAA in 1,00 mg/l meta-topolina, gojišče G2 z dodatkom 0,01 mg/l NAA in 0,50 mg/l BAP in gojišče G3, ki smo mu dodali 0,01 mg/l NAA in 1,00 mg/l BAP. Pri 5-odstotni stopnji tveganja ni bilo ugotovljenih statistično značilnih razlik glede vpliva koncentracije dodanih citokininov na prirast mase sliv in število poganjkov pri po-sameznem gojišču. Pojav vitrifikacije ni bil prisoten pri nobenem obravnavanju.

Molekularna patogeneza revmatoidnega artritisa in osteoartritisa z uporabo genske ontologije
Anja Grušovnik, 2019, master's thesis

Abstract: Revmatoidni artritis in osteoartritis sta najpogosteje prisotni vrsti artritisa.

Multi-objective optimization algorithms with the island metaheuristic for effective project management problem solving
Christina Brester, Ivan Ryzhikov, Eugene Semenkin, 2017, original scientific article

Abstract: Background and Purpose: In every organization, project management raises many different decision-making problems, a large proportion of which can be efficiently solved using specific decision-making support systems. Yet such kinds of problems are always a challenge since there is no time-efficient or computationally efficient algorithm to solve them as a result of their complexity. In this study, we consider the problem of optimal financial investment. In our solution, we take into account the following organizational resource and project characteristics: profits, costs and risks. Design/Methodology/Approach: The decision-making problem is reduced to a multi-criteria 0-1 knapsack problem. This implies that we need to find a non-dominated set of alternative solutions, which are a trade-off between maximizing incomes and minimizing risks. At the same time, alternatives must satisfy constraints. This leads to a constrained two-criterion optimization problem in the Boolean space. To cope with the peculiarities and high complexity of the problem, evolution-based algorithms with an island meta-heuristic are applied as an alternative to conventional techniques. Results: The problem in hand was reduced to a two-criterion unconstrained extreme problem and solved with different evolution-based multi-objective optimization heuristics. Next, we applied a proposed meta-heuristic combining the particular algorithms and causing their interaction in a cooperative and collaborative way. The obtained results showed that the island heuristic outperformed the original ones based on the values of a specific metric, thus showing the representativeness of Pareto front approximations. Having more representative approximations, decision-makers have more alternative project portfolios corresponding to different risk and profit estimations. Since these criteria are conflicting, when choosing an alternative with an estimated high profit, decision-makers follow a strategy with an estimated high risk and vice versa. Conclusion: In the present paper, the project portfolio decision-making problem was reduced to a 0-1 knapsack constrained multi-objective optimization problem. The algorithm investigation confirms that the use of the island meta-heuristic significantly improves the performance of genetic algorithms, thereby providing an efficient tool for Financial Responsibility Centres Management.

Investigation of moderator factors in e-business adoption : a quantitative meta-analysis of moderating effects on the drivers of intention and behavior
Boštjan Šumak, Marjan Heričko, Zoran Budimac, Maja Pušnik, 2017, original scientific article

Abstract: E-business technology is becoming one of the most important global markets where e-business solutions will have to adapt to new technologies. The main objective in this study was to synthesize existing knowledge in the field of e-business technology acceptance and to understand differences in Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) related causal effect sizes for different e-business contexts. A quantitative meta-analysis of existing empirical research about factors affecting e-business adoption was conducted using 89 published papers that provided empirical data about causal relationships. A moderator analysis was carried out to investigate the moderating effect of four factors: consumer type, device type, continent and respondent type. The results of the study showed a moderating effect for all four proposed factors in almost all TAM-related causal paths. The study also showed that TAM is the most common theory being applied in e-business adoption research.

Eterična olja in njihova antioksidativnost
Petra Gjura, 2017, undergraduate thesis

Izvedli smo Soxhlet in ultrazvočno ekstrakcijo. Kot topilo pri Soxhletu smo uporabili 100 % metanol. Eterična olja smo izolirali s konvencionSlno metodo destilacije z vodno paro po Clevengerju, z visokotlačnimi ekstrakcijami s superkritičnimi fluidi (CO2) v laboratorijskem merilu. Dobljenim ekstraktom smo določili antioksidativne lastnosti z uporabo standardnih metod. Sestavo eteričnih olj ter karvona in limonena smo identificirali s pomočjo ustreznih standardov substanc in jih kvantitativno ovrednotili z metodo eksternega standarda s plinsko kromatografijo, sklopljeno z masno spektrometrijo. Rezultati sestave kažejo na višjo vsebnost D-Limonena in α-Terpineola v meti, D-Limonena in D-Carvona v kumini in D-Limonena, D-Carvona in Apiola v kopru.
