The properties of the material gadolinium and the working agent used in the installation of magnetic refrigeration devices
Dorin Botoc, Jurij Avsec, Adrian Plesca, Georgel Gabor, Rusu Ionut, 2020, professional article

Abstract: Much remains to be done to understand better and thus achieve better control over magnetic materials to maximize their magnetocaloric properties and performance, specifically for gadolinium. A clear path forward is highlighted by thorough experiments coupled with theory, in which the latter is tested and re%ned against the former, thus resulting in discoveries of new and improved materials and bringing near-room-temperature magnetic refrigeration technology to fruition in the near future.

Miniature magneto-optic angular position sensor
Vedran Budinski, Simon Pevec, Stanislav Čampelj, Alenka Mertelj, Darja Lisjak, Denis Đonlagić, 2022, original scientific article

Abstract: This Letter describes a miniature Fabry–Perot, contactless, magneto-optic sensor for angular position measurement. The sensor utilizes a magneto-optic fluid comprising barium hexaferrite nanoplatelets that become birefringent in the presence of an external magnetic field and a compact fiber-optic sensor system for tracking the liquid’s optical axis direction. An efficient temperature compensation system is provided which allows the use of otherwise highly temperature-sensitive magneto-optic liquids. An unambiguous measurement range of 90° and a resolution of better than 0.05° are demonstrated experimentally.

Rate-dependent extensions of the parametric magneto-dynamic model with magnetic hysteresis
Simon Steentjes, Martin Petrun, G. Glehn, Drago Dolinar, Kay Hameyer, 2017, original scientific article

Abstract: This paper extends the parametric magneto-dynamic model of soft magnetic steel sheets to account for the phase shift between local magnetic flux density and magnetic field strength. This phase shift originates from the damped motion of domain walls and is strongly dependent on the microstructure of the material. In this regard, two different approaches to include the rate-dependent effects are investigated: a purely phenomenological, mathematical approach and a physical-based one.
