1. Sustainable developement in logistic : a strategy for management in terms of green transportDorota Klimecka-Tatar, Manuela Ingaldi, Matevž Obrecht, 2021, original scientific article Abstract: Supply chain management is one of the most important elements of sustainable development. And due to the fact that the world market is driven by supply and demand, and the determinant of access to products is regional and international logistics, this paper focuses on the possibilities of implementing a green transport strategy in the context of sustainable development in logistic enterprises. This paper presents the results of the SWOT anal-ysis pointing out the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats of green vehicles market for the transport enterprises. It was noticed that the situation on the green vehicles market for the transport enterprises is charac-terized by the advantage of strengths and these strengths should be used to maximize the use of green vehicles. It emphasized that subsidies for green vehicles would allow to invest in a modern fleet, new solutions (e.g. own charging stations) can have an impact on the greater energy efficiency (self-sufficiency), increase of social aware-ness would force enterprises to take appropriate actions in the field of environmental protection and develop-ment of publictransport based on green vehicles. 2. Green logistics - development and implementationMatjaž Knez, Matevž Obrecht, 2016, independent scientific component part or a chapter in a monograph Abstract: Environmental problems, material depletion, and high dependency on fossil fuels are core problems of logistics in the EU as well as globally. Therefore, numerous countries, in particular Member States of the EU, have ambitious goals for the increased use of renewables, increased energy efficiency, the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, transition to sustainable transportation and similar changes. EU companies are, therefore, strongly committed to reducing their environmental impact, reducing the use of fossil fuels and becoming more sustainable. Logistics companies are no exception due to the impact of logistics processes, such as transportation and distribution that impact human health, ecosystem and air quality, climate changes (with noise, vibrations, fossil fuel related harmful emissions etc.), warehousing (especially with energy used for heating and cooling) and packaging (especially with the use of material). Therefore, the implementation of green logistics is necessary for the sustainable future of our planet. This chapter identifies how the idea of green logistics was developed and has evolved, analyses key problems for its implementation, and presents the current status of green logistics, including the best practices of green logistics implementation in selected organizations. The project was managed by Professor Maja Fošner, PhD, from the Faculty of Logistics at the University of Maribor, and Professor Veselin Draskovic, PdD, from the Maritime Faculty of Kotor, Montenegro.
The main goal of the monograph is to give a comprehensive account of selected areas from the field of logistics and challenges in the development of logistics, such as risk management and supply chains, transport cost, competences in logistics, urban logistics, green logistics, seaport cooperation, logistics network optimisation, logistics in tourism, logistics in performance management, systemic logistics providers and solutions to problems of transportation task.
Wishing to offer a comprehensive presentation of various areas in the field of logistics, the authors of the monograph contributions, who participated on the project (Maja Fošner, Bojan Rosi, Borut Jereb, Marjan Sternad, Veselin Draskovic (ed.), Mimo Draskovic, Sanja Bauk, Senka Sekulac-Ivosevic), invited to cooperation also other researchers from the Faculty of Logistics and the Maritime Faculty of Kotor (Irena Gorenak, Matjaž Knez, Matevž Obrecht, Sonja Mlaker Kač, Tina Cvahte, Darja Topolsek, Drago Pupavac, Zeljko Ivanovic, Oleksandr Dorokhov, and Ludmila Malyaretz) who enriched the present monograph with their contributions.
The monograph is aimed at professional public and anyone interested in the field of logistics. It should also serve as a useful aid in the study of logistics. 4. Policies for promotion of electric vehicles and factors influencing consumers' purchasing decisions of low emission vehiclesMatjaž Knez, Matevž Obrecht, 2017, original scientific article Abstract: Recently different studies of green transport have become interesting for policy makers, car manufacturers, customers and energy suppliers. Many stakeholders from the public and private sectors are investing a lot of effort to identify consumer behaviour for future improvements in development of green products and effective strategies, which could accelerate the transition to sustainable future. This paper presents the effects of electric vehicle promotional policies and customer preferences about alternative fuel vehicles. This study has shown that the electric vehicle promotional policies adopted in Slovenia have been unsuccessful, as the share of first-time registered electric vehicles in 2013 was below 1%. For different segments of people whose opinions about low emission vehicles differ, different measures must be adopted. When designing promotional policies focus must be on the most relevant factors such as the total vehicle price and fuel economy. 5. Lean and green paradigms in logistics : review of published researchVaska Pejić, Tone Lerher, Borut Jereb, Andrej Lisec, 2016, review article Abstract: This paper provides a systematic review of published research on lean logistics, green logistics and the combination of both paradigms. Although prior research on all three topics exists, only a few have focused on the field of logistics as such. The present analysis comprises an examination of 98 scientific articles from 35 international journals, published between the years 1994 and 2015. The published studies are classified by next divisions: journal, paradigm, time distribution, research stream and sector-wise focus. Although key findings indicate that over the last couple of years research on all three topics has increased, a research gap regarding the studies of lean and green logistics when combined, has been identified. For all three topics the domination in research typology has been extracted. The findings indicate that most papers examined on the topic of lean logistics come from the manufacturing industries, whereas for the topic green logistics and a combination of green and lean topics no specific sector was identified. 6. Green logistics - a solar warehouse conceptMatjaž Knez, Péter Bajor, Sebastijan Seme, 2011, original scientific article Abstract: Transportation and logistics are responsible for climate change as they produce greenhouse gases and contribute to the increasing share of fossil fuels, such as oil, in global energy consumption. Supplying the required energy for the transport and logistics sector in an environment-friendly way (based on electric or hydrogen fuels) is one of the main challenges for mankind. Material handling processes have a significant energy demand in warehouse operations, and the application of electricity-driven vehicles and equipment is widely accepted. With the effective use of available green electricity sources - like photovoltaic and wind energy - in the warehouse, we could provide energy for these operations. This article, based on laboratory data, describes a solar-warehouse concept and analyzes the critical parameters, such as energy demand of processes and vehicles, the characteristics of consumption and production, the alternative solutions of electricity storage and fast-charging.
