Applying integrated data envelopment analysis and analytic hierarchy process to measuring the efficiency of tourist farms : The Case of Slovenia
Boris Prevolšek, Maja Borlinič Gačnik, Črtomir Rozman, 2023, original scientific article

Abstract: This paper examines the efficiency of tourist farms in Slovenia by adopting an approach using a framework of non-parametric programming—Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), combining the two because the DEA analysis by itself does not take into account all attributes, especially qualitative ones. The beforementioned two methods rank the farm tourism units with respect to their efficiency. By using the DEA method, an input- and output-oriented BCC and CCR model were introduced to upgrade the criteria by including the additional non-numerical criteria of the AHP. The results of the models showed that there are possible improvements on all levels of efficiency, as well as on the criteria of the additional offer of tourist farms, which were analyzed in the AHP model with additional criteria. According to the estimated efficiency, the ranking of tourist farms differed according to the two methods. Within the group of farms assessed as efficient by DEA, the AHP model allowed a more accurate ranking.

The impact of COVID-19 on bank efficiency in the Western Balkans : a DEA approach
Katerina Fotova Čiković, Violeta Cvetkoska, Damira Keček, 2023, original scientific article

Abstract: This paper aims to assess and compare the relative efficiency of commercial banks in six Western Balkan developing countries (North Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina (B&H), Kosovo1, and Albania), using the leading nonparametric methodology Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) for the period 2016-2020, and investigating the impact of the COVID-19 pandemics on the performance of banking systems in these countries. The outputoriented DEA model has been implemented with interest expenses and noninterest expenses as inputs and interest revenue and non-interest revenue as outputs. Our findings show that the average efficiency of the six Western Balkan banking systems differs, and Kosovo’s banking system has noted the highest average efficiency in the whole observed period (2016–2020). In contrast, the banking system in Bosnia and Herzegovina noted the lowest average efficiency. The COVID-19 pandemic decreased the relative efficiency of the banking sectors in all six of the Western Balkan countries observed, except Kosovo. However, additional research that includes all pandemic years is recommended to assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the banking systems in the Western Balkans. This study provides invaluable insights for academic members, banking management and regulatory bodies, governments, and the interested public. It is the first empirical study that includes a glimpse of the first impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on banking systems in the developing countries of the Western Balkans.

Vpliv nizkocenovnih letalskih prevoznikov na ekonomske kazalnike regij severnega jadrana
Marin Kajba, 2019, master's thesis/paper

Abstract: Magistrska naloga proučuje vpliv nizkocenovnih prevoznikov na ekonomske kazalnike regij severnega jadrana. Raziskavo smo opravili na podatkih 12 letališč v Sloveniji, Hrvaški in Italiji. Poiskali smo njihove vrednosti korelacije z bruto domačim proizvodom in številom nočitev v regijah.

Measuring efficiency of nations in multi sport events : a case of Commonwealth Games XIX
Roma Mitra Debnath, Ashish Malhotra, 2015, original scientific article

Abstract: This paper used a data envelopment analysis (DEA) to measure the performance of the nations participating in the Commonwealth Games. To increase the consistency of the research, multiple models were employed to validate the result, but the nature of the input and output remained same throughout the paper. The objective of this study was to establish some realistic targets in terms of number of players for all participant countries and evaluations of their performance as well as benchmarks against the most efficient country. This study would help the nations optimize the size of their players to maximize the outcome in terms of the number of medals won in sporting events.

Vpliv nizkocenovnih letalskih prevoznikov na učinkovitost letališč
Klemen Grobin, 2015, bachelor thesis/paper

Abstract: Pristanišča Koper, Rijeka, Trst, Benetke in Ploče imajo pomembno vlogo v mednarodni trgovini, saj je njihov geografski položaj idealen za nadaljnjo distribucijo blaga proti državam Srednje Evrope. V magistrskem delu z uporabo metode DEA (ang. Data Envelopment Analysis, sl. analiza ovojnice podatkov) , analizirana je relativna tehnična učinkovitost kontejnerskih pristanišč Koper, Rijeka, Trst, Benetke in Ploče. Uporabljeni so bili različni modeli z različnimi kombinacijami vhodnih in izhodnih spremenljivk. Rezultati kažejo, da na učinkovitost pristanišč najbolj vpliva sorazmerje vhodnih in izhodnih spremenljivk.
