Preparation of international business negotiation strategies : competitive assessment aspects in the market power system
Kęstutis Peleckis, Valentina Peleckiene, Kestutis K. Peleckis, Giedre Lapinskiene, Zlatko Nedelko, 2019, published scientific conference contribution

Abstract: The existence of exclusive rights to produce or supply services means a monopoly. Often it is called a natural monopoly. Exclusive rights are granted for a long period of time, which should encourage major investments in infrastructure, the development of which is unlikely to occur without a guaranteed market. But sometimes exclusive rights are used in situations where there is no natural monopoly. Exclusive rights are, in many respects, one of the main routes to market. Exclusive rights may allow monopoly pricing and other market power tools. Regulatory measures used by competition authorities alone do not make it possible to avoid such a situation, as they often show a very low success rate in preventing market power from being used to protect consumers. The purpose of this article is to analyze the theory and practice of preparing negotiating strategies in a complex way, to reveal opportunities to develop and implement these negotiating strategies, taking into account competition policy actions. The subject of the study is the preparation of negotiation strategies taking into account competition policy actions in the market. The research problem of the article there is not enough tools in the negotiation theory to help develop negotiation strategies in line with competition policy actions.

Eco-design processes in the automotive industry
Ewelina Staniszewska, Dorota Klimecka-Tatar, Matevž Obrecht, 2020, original scientific article

Abstract: Every year approximately 70 million passenger cars are being produced and automotive industry is much bigger then just passenger cars. The impact of automotive industry on the environment is tre-mendous. From extracting raw materials through manufacturing and assembly processes, exploitation of the vehicle to the reprocessing irreversible, extensive environmental damage is done. The goal of this study is to show how implementing eco-design processes into supply chain management can re-duce the impact of automotive industry on the environment by e.g. reducing the use of the fuel, in-creasing the use of recycled materials. Focus is on evaluation of current state, environmental impacts and potential improvements for design, raw materials, manufacturing and distribution and end-of-life phase.

Barriers to knowledge sharing in the field of information security
Justyna Żywiołek, Joanna Rosak-Szyrocka, Borut Jereb, 2021, original scientific article

Abstract: Today, sharing knowledge requires taking into account many aspects. Variable environmental conditions, the people factor, and the security of resources are just a few that should be considered for a noticeable improvement in the functioning of the company. Supporting this course of action requires the identification of all barriers that may exist in the enterprise. Only the owner and senior management by establishing system and organizational changes can influence this element of the business. The aim of the article is to indicate the problems in this respect that block the proper functioning of the company in the field of information and knowledge exchange. The survey was conducted with the help of a questionnaire among 189 respondents. The industry has significantly decreased in the last few decades, currently there are 307 companies operating in Poland. Conclusions from the conducted research were collected on the basis of a questionnaire survey. The further stage of the research will be to compare the collected results with the results from Western European countries.

Leadership and managerial challenges to ensure agile management as a method to enable business success : a Delphi study of the Slovenian health organisations
Vasja Roblek, Vlado Dimovski, Kristjan Jovanov Oblak, Maja Meško, Judita Peterlin, 2024, original scientific article

Abstract: Purpose This study aims to apply the Delphi method to explore the possibilities for implementing agility management concepts in Slovenian health-care organisations. Design/methodology/approach The research is based on a qualitative Delphi study encompassing 15 employees in different Slovenian health-care organisations. Findings Slovenian health-care organisations need to be more agile currently. For this reason, it is necessary to begin with organisational changes and organisational learning concepts to educate employees about the meaning and content of agile processes. It is essential to ensure that accepting employee mistakes and offering help to employees becomes normal practice, and it is necessary to ensure the greater trust of the management towards the employees. Originality/value The research empowers health-care professionals with new management and leadership concepts, such as agile management, sustainable leadership and leadership development methods in health care.

Sustainable operations of last mile logistics based on machine learning processes
Jerko Oršič, Borut Jereb, Matevž Obrecht, 2022, original scientific article

Abstract: The last-mile logistics is regarded as one of the least efficient, most expensive, and polluting part of the entire supply chain and has a significant impact and consequences on sustainable delivery operations. The leading business model in e-commerce called Attended Home Delivery is the most expensive and demanding when a short delivery window is mutually agreed upon with the customer, decreasing possible optimizing flexibility. On the other hand, last-mile logistics is changing as decisions should be made in real time. This paper is focused on the proposed solution of sustainability opportunities in Attended Home Delivery, where we use a new approach to achieve more sustainable deliveries with machine learning forecasts based on real-time data, different dynamic route planning algorithms, tracking logistics events, fleet capacities and other relevant data. The developed model proposes to influence customers to choose a more sustainable delivery time window with important sustainability benefits based on machine learning to predict accurate time windows with real-time data influence. At the same time, better utilization of vehicles, less congestion, and fewer failures at home delivery are achieved. More sustainable routes are selected in the preplanning process due to predicted traffic or other circumstances. Increasing time slots from 2 to 4 h makes it possible to improve travel distance by about 5.5% and decrease cost by 11% if we assume that only 20% of customers agree to larger time slots.

Quo vadis business simulation games in the 21st century?
Mirjana Pejić Bach, Tamara Ćurlin, Ana-Marija Stjepić, Maja Meško, 2023, review article

Abstract: Business simulation games have become popular in higher education and business environments. The paper aims to identify the primary research trends and topics of business simulation games research using a systematic and automated literature review with the motivation of research (learning driven and domain driven). Based on these findings, the future development of business simulation games research projected papers that research business simulation games were extracted from Scopus. Second, the research timeline, main publication venues and citation trends have been analysed. Third, the most frequent words, phrases, and topics were extracted using text mining. Results indicate that the research on business simulation games has stagnated, with the most cited papers published in the 2000s. There is a balance between learning-driven and domain driven-research, while technology-driven research is scarce, indicating that the technology used for business simulation games is mature. We project that the research on business simulation games needs to be directed in the area of new technologies that could improve communication with and among the users (virtual reality, augmented reality, simulation games) and technologies that could improve the reasoning and decision-making complexity in business simulation games (artificial intelligence).

Risk management according to ISO 31000
Borut Jereb, Matjaž Knez, Darja Kukovič, Tina Cvahte Ojsteršek, Matevž Obrecht, 2016, independent scientific component part or a chapter in a monograph

Abstract: Organizations of all types and sizes face internal and external factors and influences that make it uncertain whether and when they will achieve their objectives. The effect this uncertainty has on an organization's objectives is «risk». Although the practice of risk management has been developed over time and within many sectors in order to meet diverse needs, the adoption of consistent processes within a comprehensive framework can help to ensure that risk is managed effectively, efficiently and coherently across an organization. The generic approach described in this International Standard provides the principles and guidelines for managing any form of risk in a systematic, transparent and credible manner and within any scope and context. All activities of an organization involve risk. Organizations manage risk by identifying it, analysing it and then evaluating whether the risk should be modified by risk treatment in order to satisfy their risk criteria. Throughout this process, they communicate and consult with stakeholders and monitor and review the risk and the controls that are modifying the risk in order to ensure that no further risk treatment is required. ISO 31000 describes this systematic and logical process in detail. (IS0 31000, 2009).
