1. Cruise port performance evaluation in the context of port authority : an MCDA approachVivien Lorenčič, Elen Twrdy, Marjan Lep, 2022, original scientific article Abstract: When it comes to analyzing cruise port performance, port operators have a challenging
task because there are no widely accepted or well-known procedures for evaluating cruise port
performance. Any performance measures used by port authorities are rough and only offer an
approximation of the terminal’s operational performance. Therefore, the purpose of this article
is to present a multi-criteria assessment model to assist port authorities in evaluating cruise port
performance from a multidisciplinary perspective. We investigated the compatibility and utility of
combining the AHP and TOPSIS methods in a proposed MCDA model for assessing cruise port
performance. The AHP method was used to provide the weights of port performance indicators, and
the TOPSIS method was used to assess the port performance and to create a rank list of ports. A case
study involving four Mediterranean cruise ports, Barcelona, Piraeus, Civitavecchia, and Marseille,
was used to show the model’s application. The case study results reveal that the safety–environmental
aspect is the most important aspect in assessing cruise port performance. We compared the proposed
model to a state-of-the-art paper and discovered that our model can successfully cope with various
multi-criteria models for port performance assessment. Keywords: cruise ports, port performance, Mediterranean Published in DKUM: 14.03.2025; Views: 0; Downloads: 11

2. Effects of cardiac rehabilitation and diet counselling on adherence to the mediterranean lifestyle in patients after myocardial infarctionMarko Novaković, Uroš Rajkovič, Daniel Košuta, Jure Tršan, Zlatko Fras, Borut Jug, 2022, original scientific article Abstract: Adherence to the Mediterranean lifestyle—as captured by the Medlife Index Questionnaire (i.e., encompassing a Mediterranean diet as well as other aspects of healthy living, such as food preparation, physical activity, and socializing)—has been associated with reduced cardiovascular events in healthy individuals. In the present study, we sought to determine the adherence to, and the effect of comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation on, Mediterranean lifestyle adherence in patients after myocardial infarction. We included 121 patients (mean age, 55 years; women, 37%) undergoing comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation—i.e., exercise training 3 times per week for 12 weeks plus dedicated workshops promoting the Mediterranean lifestyle. Before and after cardiac rehabilitation, patients completed the Medlife Index Questionnaire. High baseline adherence was associated with favourable glucose (5.39 vs. 6.1 mmol/L; p < 0.001), triglycerides (1.1 vs. 1.5 mmol/L; p = 0.002), and HDL cholesterol levels (1.32 vs. 1.12 mmol/L; p = 0.032). More importantly, the Medlife Score significantly improved following comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation in patients with low baseline adherence (from 13.8 to 16.7 points; p < 0.001), but not in patients with high baseline adherence (from 19.4 to 18.8 points; p = 0.205). Our findings suggested that Mediterranean lifestyle promotion during cardiac rehabilitation improved adherence to the Mediterranean lifestyle, especially in low-adherence patients. 3. Coastal fish fauna in the Cystoseira s.l. algal belts : experiences from the Northern Adriatic SeaLovrenc Lipej, Danijel Ivajnšič, Valentina Pitacco, Domen Trkov, Borut Mavrič, Martina Orlando-Bonaca, 2023, original scientific article Abstract: Cystoseira s.l. forests are recognised as important habitats which host diverse coastal fish assemblages. Many fish species use such habitats as feeding, breeding, and nursery grounds. Since the coastal fish community depends on the availability of dense macroalgal belts, the decline of these habitats in the Mediterranean Sea also affects the density of coastal fish species. We studied the coastal fish assemblage in Cystoseira s.l. forests in three consecutive years 2019–2021 in the Gulf of Trieste (Adriatic Sea). Data on coastal fish fauna were collected by visual counts conducted by SCUBA diving. Data on algal cover and habitat types were obtained by recording with a video camera. Similarities and differences in the fish community were analysed in terms of habitat and substrate preferences. A total of 34 species were recorded in Cystoseira forests. The results of the present study show that the different algal cover and associated depth gradient have different effects on the fish assemblage in coastal waters, affecting species composition and abundance. For many species, particularly labrids and sea breams, there is a decreasing temporal trend in frequency of occurrence and density. However, fish community trends can be used as a good “proxy” to evaluate the algal belt status. Our results indicate that rapid conservation and restoration actions are needed to stem the decline of Cystoseira s.l. forests. 4. Comparison of criteria for road safety barrier installation in some countries of the European unionLeonid Ljubotina, 2019, master's thesis Abstract: In the master thesis we will analyze regulations which define the criterion for vehicle restraint system installment in certain countries of the European Union. We will focus mostly on Slovenia, Italia and Croatia. Even though all of the three states are members of the European Union, have common borders and the “Mediterranean” TEN corridor passes through these countries, it is possible to conclude that the passive safety equipment on the road infrastructure in those states is not harmonized.
There are also big differences between the installation conditions of the traffic safety barriers and category selection of the safety barriers. Analyzing regulations regarding traffic safety barrier installation, we will try to define the differences in equipping roads with safety barriers, depending on road category, definition of black spot and the category of the safety barrier.
