PRIMERJAVA ČELJUSTI PRI DVEH VRSTAH EVROPSKIH VOLKCEV (Insecta: Neuroptera: Myrmeleontidae)
Miha Knehtl, 2011, undergraduate thesis

Abstract: V diplomskem delu smo proučevali in med seboj primerjali morfološke značilnosti čeljusti ličink dveh vrst volkcev (Myrmeleon formicarius in Neuroleon microstenus), ki se poslužujeta različnih strategij plenjenja. Fotografirane vzorce smo obdelali s programsko opremo EclipseNet.

Sabina Gomboc, 2013, undergraduate thesis

Abstract: Alpsko sredogorje, vinogradniško gričevje, obsoteljske ravnice, raznovrstnost narave, bogata kulturna dediščina in izročilo ter priložnosti za uživanje in sprostitev so bili razlogi, ki so leta 1981 privedli do ustanovitve Kozjanskega regijskega parka. Kozjanski park meri 19.600 ha in ima 10.000 prebivalcev. Obsega občine: Bistrica ob Sotli, Kozje, Podčetrtek, Brežice in Krško.

Larval morphology of the antlion Myrmecaelurus trigrammus (Pallas, 1771) (Neuroptera, Myrmeleontidae), with notes on larval biology
Dušan Devetak, Vesna Klokočovnik, Saška Lipovšek Delakorda, Elisabeth Bock, Gerd Leitinger, 2013, original scientific article

Abstract: Morphology and behaviour of third instar larvae of the Holomediterranean antlion species Myrmecaelurus trigrammus (Pallas) are described. Larvae are facultative pit-builders, they either ambush their prey at the surface, or dig pitfall traps that prey fall in to. Dark brown spots on dorsal and ventral sides of the head and on dorsal side of the thorax are charac-teristic of the larvae. Eye tubercles are not prominent. Jaws are equipped with long bristles, campaniform sensilla, sensilla coeloconica, and digitiform sensilla. A unique feature is the shape of the tips of all three teeth that is screw-like with a polyhedral surface. The body surface is covered with longitudinally grooved bristles and plumose hairs. On the tip of the antennae and on terminal and subterminal parts of labial palps sensilla basiconica occur. On the 9th abdominal segment there are two bulges, each of them bearing four digging bristles. Non-prominent eye tubercles and numerous mandibular bristles are morphological traits of pit-builders. Most of the behavioural traits are related to pit builders, whereas forward movement, waiting for prey without a pit and frequent changing of ambush location are traits of non-pit builders.

Intensity of wing pigmentation and identification of pigments in wings of owl-fly Libelloides macaronius (Scopoli, 1763) (Neuroptera: Ascalaphidae)
Leon Senčič, 2006, original scientific article

Abstract: Coloration intensity of wings from owl-fly (Libelloides macaronius) was checked with absorption of the light; at 425 nm of the yellow parts of the wings and at 650 nm of the black parts. The difference between males and females was not statistically significant. In black parts of wings the black pigment melanin was identified. In both parts (yellow and black) the yellow pigment sepiapterin and one unidentified yellow pigment were present. They were extracted with 0.4% sucrose and analysed on paper and thin-layer chromatography on Silica gel.

Neuroptera in oak forests in the submediterranean district of Slovenia
Dušan Devetak, 2002, published scientific conference contribution

Abstract: In the Submediterranean District of Slovenia, Neuropteran assemblages in two types of oak forests have been investigated. For both forest types, data on plant substrate species are provided. The faunal composition of the two oak forests is compared with the fauna of the garrigue from the southernmost part of Istria. While in both woodland habitats arboreal species dominate, in the garrigue habitat the number of species preferring grassy steppes is much higher
