Reflection symmetry detection in earth observation data

Abstract: The paper presents a new algorithm for reflection symmetry detection, which is specialized to detect maximal symmetric patterns in an Earth observation (EO) dataset. First, we stress the particularities that make symmetry detection in EO data different from detection in other geometric sets. The EO data acquisition cannot provide exact pairs of symmetric elements and, therefore, the approximate symmetry must be addressed, which is accomplished by voxelization. Besides this, the EO data symmetric patterns in the top view usually contain the most useful information for further processing and, thus, it suffices to detect symmetries with vertical symmetry planes. The algorithm first extracts the so-called interesting voxels and then finds symmetric pairs of line segments, separately for each horizontal voxel slice. The results with the same symmetry plane are then merged, first in individual slices and then through all the slices. The detected maximal symmetric patterns represent the so-called partial symmetries, which can be further processed to identify global and local symmetries. LiDAR datasets of six urban and natural attractions in Slovenia of different scales and in different voxel resolutions were analyzed in this paper, demonstrating high detection speed and quality of solutions.

Assembly line optimization using MTM time standard and simulation modeling—A case study

Abstract: This study presents an approach to solving the assembly line balancing problem (ALBP) using the Methods-Time Measurement (MTM) time standard and simulation software. ALBP is a common problem in manufacturing where a set of tasks with fixed times must be assigned to a series of sequential workstations in order to minimize the total idle time and reduce the assembly cost per product. This study uses MTM, a widely used production process scheduling method, to create a new time analysis of an assembly process that was previously balanced using the Work-Factor method and time study. This literature review shows that there are a lack of combinations of updated time analyses with newer simulation approaches in the current literature, and this was the motivation for the present work. An assembly line simulation was performed using Simio software to evaluate different design options and operating scenarios. The results show that the use of MTM and simulation can help minimize idle time and improve assembly line performance, thereby reducing costs and increasing efficiency. This study shows that the approach of using MTM and simulation is effective in solving ALBP and is a useful tool for manufacturing companies to improve the performance of their assembly lines and reduce costs.

Trikoordinatna meritev strukturnega pločevinskega dela avtomobila na cnc tipalnem merilnem stroju : diplomsko delo

Abstract: Orodjarstvo je delovno intenzivna panoga, še posebej, če podjetje razvija orodja za avtomobilsko industrijo, kjer vlada močna konkurenca. Zagotavljanje kakovosti svojih izdelkov je pomemben dejavnik, da podjetje pridobi in obdrži kupca. V podjetju EMO Orodjarna, d. o. o., uporabljajo trikoordinatne meritve odpreskov, s katerimi lahko posredno ovrednotijo kakovost preoblikovalnega orodja.V diplomski nalogi sem izbral merilno strategijo in izdelal off-line merilni program za izdelek, ki se bo vgradil v avtomobil znamke Mercedes-Benz. V nalogi so najprej predstavljene osnove kontaktne in brezkontaktne koordinatne merilne tehnike. Glavni del je namenjen predstavitvi izdelka ter izbiri merilne strategije. Merilni program smo preizkusili na CNC tipalnem merilnem stroju in na koncu analizirali merilne rezultate.

Razvoj ON-LINE algoritmov vodenja za robotske sisteme : magistrsko delo

Abstract: Tehnološki razvoj zadnjih desetletij na področju robotike omogoča izjemne natančnosti robotskih mehanizmov. Vendar cena za vodenje takšnih mehanizmov ni majhna – zato so potrebne dodatne mehanske rešitve, ki sicer poenostavljajo vodenje, vendar nas v marsičem omejujejo. V tej magistrski nalogi se posvečamo nelinearnim regulacijam, s katerimi vodimo regulirani sistem na osnovi modela sprotno (angl. on-line). S pomočjo algoritmov računske inteligence aproksimiramo ta sistem v realnem času in na podlagi teh na modelu generiramo testne rešitve. Najboljše rešitve uporabimo kot vhod v regulirani sistem. Množice točk in vozlišč v splošni legi

Abstract: Magistrsko delo obravnava klasični problem “no-three-in-line” in dve njegovi pospološitvi. Klasični problem “no-three-in-line” je, poiskati največje možno število točk, ki jih lahko postavimo na n × n mrežo tako, da nobene tri med njimi ne bodo ležale v ravni črti. Posplošitvi, ki ju bomo obravnavali, sta problem “no-three-in-line” v 3D in problem splošne lege v teoriji grafov. Problem “no-three-in-line” v 3D je, poiskati največje možno število točk, ki jih lahko postavimo na n × n × n mrežo tako, da nobene tri med njimi ne bodo ležale v ravni črti. Problem splošne lege v teoriji grafov pa je, poiskati največjo množico vozlišč, za katero bo veljalo, da nobena tri vozlišča iz te množice ne ležijo na skupni najkrajši poti. V prvem poglavju je navedenih nekaj definicij in pomembnih rezultatov iz področja diskretne matematike in teorije števil, ki jih bomo potrebovali v nadaljnjih poglavjih. V drugem poglavju predstavimo klasični problem “no-three-in-line”, pokažemo koliko je pričakovana zgornja meja za število nekolinearnih točk na n × n mreži pri velikih n in vidimo, da lahko na n × n mrežo zmeraj postavimo n nekolinearnih točk. V tretjem poglavju predstavimo problem “no-three-in-line” v 3D, pokažemo, kako je ta problem povezan s 3D-sliko grafa Kn in povemo, kakšno je pričakovano število nekolinearnih točk na n × n × n mreži. V zadnjem poglavju predstavimo problem splošne lege v teoriji grafov ter njegove zgornje in spodnje meje. Zgornje meje so podane na podlagi različnih izometričnih pokritij grafov, spodnje pa dobimo tako, da množice v splošni legi povežemo s premerom grafa in njegovim pakiranjem.

Trikoordinatne meritve sestavnih delov za kmetijsko industrijo na tipalnem cnc merilnem stroju : diplomsko delo

Abstract: Geometrijske specifikacije izdelkov v strojni industriji postajajo vse bolj kompleksne, zato je v večini primerov nujna vključitev trikoordinatnih merilnih naprav v sistem nadzora geometrijskih značilnosti izdelkov. Ker se v podjetju Euroinoks d. o. o. pojavljajo vse bolj kompleksni izdelki z ozkimi tolerancami, so se odločili, da bodo klasični nadzor geometrije izdelkov zamenjali s trikoordinatno merilno tehniko. Glavni cilj diplomskega dela je določitev merilne strategije, izdelava merilnega programa in analiza skladnosti geometrijskih značilnosti za tipičen izdelek v podjetju. V nalogi so predstavljene osnove trikoordinatne merilne tehnike in konkretna aplikacija na primeru. Aplikacijo smo preizkusili na koordinatni merilni napravi in analizirali merilne rezultate.

Determining jurisdiction and the applicable law in cross-border unfair competition and unfair commercial practices cases

Abstract: The free movement of goods promotes cross-border transactions. Computerization of services and intensified use of the Internet also contribute to the development of trade within the EU. Problems that could once be addressed almost exclusively or at least prevailingly at a national level currently assume cross-border character. This is also true in the case of regulation of unfair competition and unfair commercial practices. Whereas the substantive regulation of unfair competition in both EU and domestic law is quite common in scientific literature, its aspects in private international law are often neglected. Since the EU law has to a large extent replaced national conflict-of-law and procedural rules with unified EU provisions, this article focuses on the EU regulations Rome II and Brussels I bis with the emphasis put on the latter. The aim of this article is to review the rules determining jurisdiction (and the applicable law) on the basis of legal doctrine, current legislation and case law of the Court of Justice of the EU. Attention also will be paid to both off-line and on-line situations, as well as to the specifics of consumer protection in the context of unfair competition and unfair commercial practices.

Knjiga, film in igra: Adaptacijska analiza Heart of Darkness, Apocalypse Now in Spec Ops: The Line

Abstract: Magistrsko delo se ukvarja z romanom Heart of Darkness ter njegovima priredbama. Delo je razdeljeno na dva dela. V prvem sestavimo teoretično ogrodje s katerim lahko opravimo analize, ki sledijo v drugem delu naloge. Vendar tega ogrodja ne gre enakomerno uporabljati zaradi značilnosti posameznih medijev, torej knjige, filma in računalniške igre. Tako so ugotovitve o gibanju kamere kot tudi o podobnih elementih omejene zgolj na vizualna medija, saj se v pisni obliki ne morejo pojaviti. Analitičen del naloge je razdeljen v tri poglavja, ki dela obravnavajo tako v zaporedju izdaj, kot v zaporedju, ki omogoča, da lahko vsako poglavje osnuje svojo analizo na ugotovitvah oz. podatkih prejšnjih poglavij. Tako moramo prvo analizirati knjigo na kateri osnujemo naš pregled filmske priredbe, ki nato služi sočasno s knjigo kot temelj na katerem lahko analiziramo računalniško igro. Primerjalne ugotovitve analiz se nato še enkrat pojavijo v sklepu.

On-line condition monitoring and evaluation of remaining useful lifetimes for mineral hydraulic and turbine oils

Abstract: Condition monitoring of hydraulic and turbine oils, and especially their remaining useful life, is becoming an important strategic business advantage for plant owners, which benefits in environment protection and cost reduction. This monograph discusses the problem of condition monitoring of hydraulic fluids throughout their life-cycles. Particular emphasis is placed on assessing mineral-based oils’ conditions and their remaining useful lifetimes quantitatively. Practicality and usefulness are vital when developing and deploying various methods for condition monitoring systems within industrial environments. Therefore, it is important to know the oil degradation mechanisms and influencing factors, commonly used laboratory methods and oil ageing tests, as well as, for on-line condition monitoring system design, the available sensors with all their characteristics and restrictions. The proposed approach is based on a novel method for testing the durability and oxidation stability of different hydraulic and turbine oils. The developed mathematical model is based on data from previously conducted oil-ageing tests for the assessment of an oil's condition and its remaining useful lifetime. The method can also be used for comparison of different oils and selection of a more adequate oil with high oxidation stability and long service-lifetime.
