Design of an Embedded Position Sensor with Sub-mm AccuracyMatej Nogić
, 2019, master's thesis
Abstract: This master’s thesis presents the development of a machine-vision based localization unit developed at Robert Bosch GmbH, Corporate Sector Research and Advance Engineering in Renningen, Germany. The localization unit was developed primarily for position detection purposes with three degrees of freedom in highly versatile manufacturing systems but has an immense potential to be used anywhere where a precise, low-cost localization method on a two-dimensional surface is required. The complete product development cycle was carried out, from the components selection, schematic and optical system design, to the development of machine vision algorithms, four-layer Printed Circuit Board design and evaluation using an industrial robot. Thanks to the use of a patented two-dimensional code pattern, the localization unit can cover a surface area of 49 km2. The size and speed optimized, self-developed machine-vision algorithms running on a Cortex-M7 microcontroller allow achieving an accuracy of 100 µm and 60 Hz refresh rate.

Effects of social interactions on learning and developing foreign language and phonetic learning in infancyTina Dornik
, 2019, master's thesis
Abstract: The main aim of the master's thesis is to gather as much information as possible on early second language acquisition, types of bilingualism and language changes that occur in early second language acquisition and bilingualism. The main objective was visiting a 21-month-old child, regularly for one hour per week, for a period of one year, with whom the author communicated exclusively in English. The purpose of this was to determine the possibilities of developing the earliest type of bilingualism possible in a child living in an all Slovenian family. The fundamental research question was whether a constant but relatively short (1x per week) form of social interaction could result in development of this form of bilingualism. The author collects material through fieldwork with audio and video material and writing a journal with basic findings and further suggestions for work in this field.

Prevzemno pravo v Združenem kraljestvu Velike Britanije, pred in po implementaciji Direktive EU o prevzemihRenato Kenda
, 2018, master's thesis
Abstract: Magistrsko delo obravnava ureditev področja prevzemov v Združenem kraljestvu Velike Britanije in Severne Irske, pred in po implementaciji Direktive EU o prevzemnih ponudbah.
Osrednji del naloge podrobneje obravnava normativno ureditev prevzemov v Združenem kraljestvu. Opisana je zgodovina prevzemov v Združenem kraljestvu in pravil, ki so jih spremljala, vse od nezavezujočih aktov, ki so jih avtonomno sprejeli pomembnejši deležniki tamkajšnjega trga vrednostnih papirjev, do celovite in zakonsko obvezujoče ureditve The City Code on Takeovers and Mergers in ključnega organa v postopkih prevzemov – The Takeover Panela.
Tudi vsebinske določbe The City Code on Takeovers and Mergers v postopku implementacije direktive niso doživele korenitejše spremembe.

Corruption in public administration units and organizational measures to prevent and fight corruptionAndrejka Mevc
, Milan Pagon
, 2008, original scientific article
Abstract: This paper presents the results of a study that investigated the attitudes of civil servants in public administration units in Slovenia regarding corruption at work. The results show that civil servants employed in public administration units take corruption seriously. The employees' perceptions of corruption and their willingness to report the offender are closely connected to their opinion on how others - their colleagues - perceive it (i.e., how serious they find corruption and whether they are willing to report the offender). There are important gender differences regarding the perceptions of corruption, as well as differences in the function they have and their membership in organizational units. The authors conclude that it is necessary to develop and strengthen the feelings of the employees' security and increase the link between perceiving corruption and one's own judgment of the seriousness of corruptive behaviour, as well as to decrease the tolerance regarding corruption.

Abstract: A manual measuring time tool in mass sporting competitions would not be imaginable nowadays, because many modern disciplines, such as IRONMAN, last a long-time and, therefore, demand additional reliability. Moreover, automatic timing-devices based on RFID technology, have become cheaper. However, these devices cannot operate as standalone because they need a computer measuring system that is capable of processing incoming events, encoding the results, assigning them to the correct competitor, sorting the results according to theachieved times, and then providing a printout of the results. This article presents the domain-specific language EasyTime, which enables the controlling of an agent by writing the events within a database. It focuses, in particular, on the implementation of EasyTime with a LISA tool that enables the automatic construction of compilers from language specifications, using Attribute Grammars.

Sloglish or the mixing/switching of Slovene and English in Slovene blogsNada Šabec
, 2009, original scientific article
Abstract: The article discusses the impact of the Internet on language use and, more specifically, analyzes the frequent mixing/switching of Slovene and English in Slovene blogs (so-called Sloglish). This new discourse type, combining elements of written and oral communication, is highly interactive in nature and allows for flexibility, variation and language innovation. On the other hand, some see it as too globalized and uniform as well as a threat to the language norm. Slovene blogs are analyzed linguistically (vocabulary, syntax, spelling, punctuation) and interpreted from the sociolinguistic and pragmatic perspectives (the issue of personal, cultural and social identities of bloggers; local vs. global).

Slovene-English language contact and language changeNada Šabec
, 2011, original scientific article
Abstract: The paper focuses on Slovene - English language contact and the potential language change resulting from it. Both the immigrant context (the U.S. and Canada) and Slovenia, where direct and indirect language contact can be observed respectively, are examined from two perspectives: social on the one hand and linguistic on the other. In the case of Slovene Americans and Canadians the ernphasis is on language maintenance and shift, and on the relationship between mother tongue preservation and ethnic awareness. The linguistic section examines different types of bilingual discourse (borrowing, code switching), showing how the Slovene inflectional system in particular is being increasingly generalized, simplified and reduced, and how Slovene word order is gradually beginning to resemble that of English. In the case of Slovenia we are witnessing an unprecedented surge in the influence of English on Slovene, especially in the media (both classic and electronic), advertising, science, and the language of the young. This influence will be discussed on a number of levels, such as lexical, syntactic and intercultural, and illustrated by relevant examples.

The Complexity of Cryptography in LiteratureSonja Sedej
, 2016, master's thesis
Abstract: Cryptography first appeared approximately four thousand years ago; it has developed and improved throughout history. Cryptography has an important role in the modern world. Cryptography has been a part of our lives for nearly four thousand years; nevertheless, the first book on cryptography did not appear until 1499, when John Tritheim published a collection of codes used in some European courts.
Today, cryptography affects us in many seen and unseen forms and shapes. Therefore, I am not surprised to see that it is commonplace in fiction. The purpose of this thesis is not to study the light summer reading that has lately filled the bookshelves, but to systematically research the complexity of cryptography in different literary genres.
In The Complexity of Cryptography in Literature, I analyze cryptography in English literature throughout the past two centuries. My thesis is, for many reasons, written in English; the study of English and American Literature, an English speaking mentor and researching literature written in English. Using analysis and synthesis I study two secondary theoretical sources, Codes and Ciphers – A History of Cryptography written by Alexander D'Agapeyeff and Codes, Ciphers and Secret Writing written by Martin Gardner. At the same time I introduce the appropriate terminology which is necessary for further understanding. The thesis summarizes and presents the history of cryptography. The latter is researched using the method of analysis and synthesis in The Code Book by Simon Sing and The Code-Breakers by David Kahn.
Using the basic methods and history of cryptography, I will show that many methods of cryptography are described in literature; these are closely related to cryptography’s historical development. Furthermore, I propose that these methods are used in a wide spectra of literary genres; at the same time I will show that mostly simple or simplified methods of cryptography are used in literature; otherwise, they would not be accessible to the average reader.
The thesis analyzes the complexity of cryptography in six different works of literature with reference to standard mathematical models of cryptography.
I analyze the above mentioned works of literature, and using classification and mathematical methods, I process and present the appearance of cryptography in individual works (the methods and their correctness); then, using historical and comparative methods, I research the relationship between cryptographic methods used in literature and actual historical use of cryptography. Further on, I use various methods (the mathematical method, the method of analysis and synthesis, the method of interpretation, and the descriptive method) to present the complexity of cryptographic methods in literature.
