Ravnanje z odpadno embalažo na bencinskem servisu
David Kmetec, 2025, undergraduate thesis

V empiričnem delu diplomskega dela smo naredili pregled trenutnega stanja glede količin odpadne embalaže in ravnanja z njo na izbranem bencinskem servisu in izvedli kritično analizo.

Abstract: The preconditioning and modification of the supporting electrode surface is an essential step in every biosensor architecture. In particular, when using screen-printed carbon electrodes (SPEs) as inexpensive and convenient disposable sensor substrates, their somewhat lower electrochemical (surface) reproducibility might represent a complex hurdle. Herein, we investigated the effect of selected preconditioning strategies, such as cyclic voltammetric pretreatment, in H2SO4 and H2O2 and plasma pretreatment with a positive and negative glow discharge, which all improved the electrochemical stability of the unmodified SPEs. Furthermore, we studied the influence of preconditioning strategies on the adsorption kinetics of the two most commonly used building blocks for biosensor preparation, i.e., bovine serum albumin (BSA) and protein A. We observed an advantageous effect of all the examined preconditioning strategies for the modification of SPEs with protein A, being the most effective the negative glow discharge. On the other hand, BSA exhibited a more complex adsorption behavior, with the negative glow discharge as the only generally beneficial preconditioning strategy providing the highest electrochemical stability. Protein A revealed a more substantial impact on the electrochemical signal attenuation than BSA considering their same concentrations in the modification solutions. For both BSA and protein A, we showed that the concentrations of 5 and 10 µg mL−1 already suffice for an electrochemically satisfactorily stable electrode surface after 60 min of incubation time, except for BSA at the positive-plasma-treated electrode.

David Slatinek, 2025, master's thesis

Predstavimo proces izdelave testnega informacijskega sistema in definiramo različne modele spremljanja in upravljanja z incidenti.

Robot for navigation in maize crops for the Field Robot Event 2023
David Iván Sánchez-Chávez, Noé Velázquez-López, Guillermo García-Sánchez, Alan Hernández-Mercado, Omar Alexis Avendaño-Lopez, Mónica Elizabeth Berrocal-Aguilar, 2024, original scientific article

Abstract: Navigation in a maize crop is a crucial task for the development of autonomous robots in agriculture, with numerous applications such as spraying, monitoring plant growth and health, and detecting weeds and pests. The Field Robot Event 2023 (FRE) continued to challenge universities and other research teams to push the development of algorithms for agricultural robots further. The Universidad Autónoma Chapingo has been developing a robot for various agricultural tasks, aiming to provide a low-cost alternative to work with Mexican farmers in the future. For this edition of the FRE, a navigation algorithm was created using an encoder, an IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit), an RPLIDAR (Rotating Platform Light Detection and Ranging), and cameras to collect data for decision-making. The algorithm was developed in ROS Melodic, dividing the task into steps that were tested to determine the robot's actual movements. The system navigates by using ROIs (regions of interest) and the mass center to guide the robot between maize rows. It calculates the mean of the final orientation values before reaching the end of a row, which is detected using an RPLIDAR. For turns and straight-line movements to reach the next row, the orientation is used as a guide. To detect plants for spraying, lasers located on each side of the vehicle are employed. Obstacle detection relies on a YOLOv5 (You Only Look Once) trained model and a laser, while reverse navigation uses a rear camera. During the competition, the robot faced challenges such as dealing with grass, the small size of the plants, and the need to use a different power source, which affected its performance.

Exploring the relationship between anaerobic and morphological characteristics and competition success in young male Slovenian judo athletes
Jožef Šimenko, Nik Mahnič, David Kukovica, Hrvoje Sertić, Ivan Segedi, Radoje Milić, Damir Karpljuk, Bayram Ceylan, Samo Rauter, 2024, original scientific article

Abstract: Judo elements rely on lower and upper body muscle power, supported by the ATP-PCr energy system, which is crucial in high-intensity tasks. This study aims to assess the anaerobic status of young male competitive judokas using the upper body Wingate test and explore associations with competition performance and individual morphological characteristics. A total of 29 male judokas from the U18 and U20 age categories were tested, all actively participating in top-tier national and international competitions. Anthropometric characteristics and body composition measurements were obtained for all participants through bioelectrical impedance analysis. Anaerobic testing was conducted using the upper body Wingate test with a hand ergometer. Competition performance was recorded from the final national cup ranking list. The results presented no statistically significant correlations between morphological and anaerobic variables and competitive performance among selected participants. This highlights the importance of the necessity of updated training programs to increase the anaerobic performance of young Slovenian judokas. Additionally, it shows that in these age groups, anaerobic performance is not the crucial factor but just one piece of the puzzle in young judokas’ successful competition performance; therefore other variables should be further researched.

A hierarchical universal algorithm for geometric objects’ reflection symmetry detection
Borut Žalik, Damjan Strnad, Štefan Kohek, Ivana Kolingerová, Andrej Nerat, Niko Lukač, David Podgorelec, 2022, original scientific article

Abstract: A new algorithm is presented for detecting the global reflection symmetry of geometric objects. The algorithm works for 2D and 3D objects which may be open or closed and may or may not contain holes. The algorithm accepts a point cloud obtained by sampling the object’s surface at the input. The points are inserted into a uniform grid and so-called boundary cells are identified. The centroid of the boundary cells is determined, and a testing symmetry axis/plane is set through it. In this way, the boundary cells are split into two parts and they are faced with the symmetry estimation function. If the function estimates the symmetric case, the boundary cells are further split until a given threshold is reached or a non-symmetric result is obtained. The new testing axis/plane is then derived and tested by rotation around the centroid. This paper introduces three techniques to accelerate the computation. Competitive results were obtained when the algorithm was compared against the state of the art.

Rezultati potrjujejo, da bo uvedba LED smernikov bistveno prispevala k večji prometni varnosti in zmanjšala število nesreč v pogojih zmanjšane vidljivosti.

Abstract: Acts of fraud have become much more prevalent in the financial industry with the rise of technology and the continued economic growth in modern society. Fraudsters are evolving their approaches continuously to exploit the vulnerabilities of the current prevention measures in place, many of whom are targeting the financial sector. To overcome and investigate financial frauds, this paper presents STALITA, which is an innovative platform for the analysis of bank transactions. STALITA enables graph-based data analysis using a powerful Neo4j graph database and the Cypher query language. Additionally, a diversity of other supporting tools, such as support for heterogeneous data sources, force-based graph visualisation, pivot tables, and time charts, enable in-depth investigation of the available data. In the Results section, we present the usability of the platform through real-world case scenarios.
