Is there a gap in economic culture between EU countries and the transition economies?
Milan Zver, Tjaša Živko, Vito Bobek, 2004, original scientific article

Abstract: The process of EU enlargement is in its final stage, the CEECs have more or less adapted to the western standards, which is not yet sufficient for successful completion of the transition process successfully. We have learned from the failed communism that the imported norms, institutions and practices can cause entropy, unless they reflect the prevailing cultural orientation in the society. People should believe that what they are presented as right (norms) is also good (values). For this reason the system of norms and values should be developed simultaneously. The research results show that the symptoms of economic cultures are less evident in the CEECs than in the selected EU countries, thus the democratic socialization (stimulated from outside) is the key issue. For this reason the CEECs should be included in the network of the Euro- Atlantic integrations as soon as possible in order to ensure the democratic stability and economic efficiency of Europe.

Kulturološki vidiki socio-ekonomskih empiričnih raziskav
Tjaša Živko, 2003, professional article

Abstract: The article presents the work and the most important findings of some international authors (Ronen and Shenkar, Brodbeck, Inglehart, Höhmann) who have dealt and are dealing with empirical research on economy and culture. Newprograms for computer analysis of enormous databases from this field have in the last twenty years of the 20th century encouraged the creation of new empirical research models for researching different cultural orientations, behavioural practices and social structures. This kind of research affirms culture as sociological as well as economic phenomenon and proves cultural conditionality of economic practices in structures at corporate, national and supranational levels.

Kulturna umestitev Slovencev v Evropi: aplikacija Hofstedejevega modela
Milan Zver, Tjaša Živko, 2004, original scientific article

Abstract: Na podcenjenost kulturnih orientacij v raziskovanju sodobnih razvojnih procesov opozarja vse več uglednih družboslovcev svetovnega formata (Berger, Huntington, Inglehart, Hofstede, Höhmann, Apfelthaler itd).
