Lastniki kot ambasadorji trajnostnosti: iskanje sinergije med formalnim visokošolskim izobraževanjem z mikrodokazili in gospodarstvom za povečanje trajnostnosti

Abstract: Trajnostno upravljanje in vodenje organizacij postaja vedno bolj pomembno za dolgoročno uspešnost organizacij, pri tem pa imajo pomembno vlogo lastniki kot upravljalci in oblikovalci politike podjetja. Magistrsko delo obravnava vlogo lastnikov organizacij kot ambasadorjev trajnostnosti in preučuje sinergije med formalnim visokošolskim izobraževanjem, mikrodokazili, razvojem gospodarstva in podjetji za povečanje trajnostnosti. Predstavljeni so ključni koncepti trajnostnosti, integralnega managementa in vpliva lastnikov kot upravljalcev na organizacijo in njene trajnostne usmeritve. Predstavljeni so zakonodajni okviri, standardi, protokoli in druge komponente poročanja organizaciji o trajnostnosti ter povezava tega s pomenom izobraževanja o trajnostnosti za organizacije. V empiričnem delu sta izvedeni dve študiji primera, prva se nanaša na analizo izbranih izobraževanj o trajnostnosti v poslovanju v Sloveniji, druga pa na preučitev izbranih tujih visokošolskih študijskih programov s področja trajnostnosti. Na podlagi ugotovitev je oblikovan predlog modela kurikuluma za trajnostno izobraževanje lastnikov organizacij z uporabo mikrodokazil v visokem šolstvu. Raziskava je pokazala, da je izobraževanje na področju trajnostnosti v poslovanju pomembno, vendar v Sloveniji še ni sistematično urejeno. Zato se mikrodokazila izkazujejo kot potencialno učinkovito orodje za povezovanje akademskega sveta in gospodarstva, kar bi lahko omogočalo boljši prenos znanja ter večjo izobraženost o trajnostnosti v poslovanju.

Spatial exploration of economic data-insight into attitudes of students towards interdisciplinary knowledge

Abstract: This paper uses the technology acceptance model (TAM) framework for the research of economic and geography students’ attitudes towards interdisciplinary knowledge. Based on the SmartPLS Structural equation modelling SEM variance-based method, research results were gained through analysis of survey data of economic and geography students. They participated in the Spationomy project in the period of 2017–2019. Online questionnaires were fulfilled before and after students’ participation in the project and their future behavioural intention to use interdisciplinary knowledge was analysed. Based on the research, we can confirm that the Spationomy project has achieved its purpose, as both groups of students (economic and geography students) have acquired interdisciplinary knowledge and students intend to use it also in the future. Therefore, we can argue that the students included in the project in practice gained recognition of systems thinking about the importance of mutual interdisciplinary cooperation towards achieving synergies. The results also show that TAM can be successfully implemented to analyse how students of economics and geography accept the use of interdisciplinary knowledge in the learning process, which is an important implication for management and education as well as from the theoretical implications viewpoint. While effective analysis using TAM has been used successfully and relatively frequently in economics and business field, we have not found relevant examples of its implementation in the broader field of geography. However, the acceptance of geographic information system (GIS) or other information technologies/information software (IT/IS) tool-based approaches of analysis in the geography field may be of most importance. Therefore, also, this represents an important implication for the research area.

A strategic model for sustainable business policy development

Abstract: Growing importance of sustainable development, corporate social responsibility and business ethics requires various types of contemporary organisations innovation. This research assesses the problem related to business policy innovation (BPI), which represents organisational governance determination. The main purpose of the paper is to qualitatively and quantitatively present a new, requisitely holistic strategic model of the soft factors influencing BPI, which interdependently incorporates changes in organisational values, culture and business ethics, as well as stakeholders’ interests reconciliation, thus determine soft possibilities for more sustainable business policy, management and practice. While the relevance of these factors for business policy is in the literature widely recognized, there is a small amount of empirical research on their influence on BPI. To mitigate this research gap, advanced structural equation modelling (SEM) based partial least squares (PLS) method was used for analysing data of 734 organisations in Slovenia, the EU state. The research results show that researched soft factors organisational values, culture and stakeholders’ interests reconciliation statistically confirmed influence BPI. Thus, these recognitions can be used as the basis for strategic managerial decision making towards social responsibility and sustainability of an organisation. Reasons why it has not been statistically confirmed that business ethics influence BPI needs to be investigated in future research.

Building organisational sustainability during the COVID-19 pandemic with an inspiring work environment

Abstract: This article aims to analyse significant differences in four constructs: occupational stress, job satisfaction, work engagement, and work productivity among employees before and after the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of the paper is to develop a multidimensional model with these four constructs and analyse the differences in the strength of their effects on the model across two intersectional times: before the COVID-19 pandemic and during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research was implemented on a sample of 885 employees in Slovenian organisations. During COVID-19, Slovenia had one of the strictest lockdowns. Based on the research, we can confirm significant differences in the four analysed constructs among employees before COVID-19 and during COVID-19. Based on the results, we can confirm that occupational stress had a more negative effect on job satisfaction and work engagement during COVID-19 than before prior to it. Our research and conclusions highlight the measures with which organisations can reduce the problem of occupational stress and with which organisations can increase job satisfaction, work engagement and work productivity among employees during COVID-19. Based on this, organisations may be able to build a more supportive work environment during, and after, COVID-19.

Prednosti in slabosti družinskih podjetij

Abstract: Glavni cilj naše raziskave je razviti razumevanje tega edinstvenega organizacijskega modela. S preučevanjem prednosti in slabosti družinskih podjetij, želimo dobiti vpoglede, ki lahko pomagajo lastnikom, managerjem in oblikovalcem politik podjetja pri sprejemanju strateških odločitev ter pri samem vodenju. Skozi podrobno analizo našega podjetja OK, d. o. o., želimo ugotoviti katere so edinstvene značilnosti našega podjetja, ter kako te vplivajo na uspešnost podjetja. Osredotočili smo se na raziskovanje njihovih prednosti, ki jih podjetje lahko izkoristi in njihovih slabosti, ter kako se podjetje lahko sooča z njimi. Ugotovitev raziskave smo primerjali s teoretičnimi modeli in praksami drugih družinskih podjetij, kar nam je omogočilo da podjetju OK, d. o. o. podamo konkretne nasvete.

Okolje, trajnost in trajnostni razvoj podjetja - primer skupine marovt group

Abstract: Diplomska naloga se osredotoča na preučevanje trajnostnega razvoja v sodobnem poslovnem okolju, s posebnim poudarkom na skupini Marovt Group, ki vključuje podjetja iz različnih industrijskih panog, kot so kovinsko-predelovalna, informacijsko-komunikacijska, stroje gradnja, ogrevalna in elektroenergetska industrija. Glavni izziv za podjetja danes je uskladiti ekonomične interese z zahtevami trajnostnega razvoja, ki vključuje okoljske, družbene in gospodarske vidike. V industrijah, kot je kovinsko-predelovalna, je to še posebej pomembno zaradi velikega vpliva na okolje. Naloga analizira, kako Marovt Group vključuje trajnostne prakse v svoj poslovni model in kako te prakse vplivajo na širšo družbo in poslovno uspešnost. Poudarek je na merjenju in spremljanju napredka pri trajnostnem razvoju preučevanega podjetja in vključevanju deležnikov, kot so zaposleni in lokalna skupnost, v te procese. Raziskava prav tako preučuje, kako to podjetje obvladuje tveganja, povezana s trajnostjo, in kakšno vlogo igrajo inovacije pri doseganju trajnostnih ciljev. V teoretičnem delu so predstavljene ključne priložnosti in tveganja, s katerimi se podjetje sooča, pri čemer so zunanja tveganja pogosto povezana s političnim in pravnim okoljem, medtem ko notranja tveganja izhajajo iz upravljanja podjetja in strateških odločitev. Posebna pozornost je namenjena vplivu okoljske zakonodaje in družbenih pričakovanj na poslovanje podjetja, kar vključuje tudi pritiske po znižanju emisij toplogrednih plinov in zmanjšanju okoljskih odpadkov. Marovt Group kot primer, predstavljen v praktičnem delu, izpostavlja svoje napore pri uvajanju trajnostnih praks v kovinsko-predelovalni industriji, ki je energetsko intenzivna in močno odvisna od naravnih virov. Cilj naloge je preučiti, kako uspešno podjetje vključuje trajnostna načela v svojo poslovno strategijo in kako ta strategija prispeva k dolgoročni konkurenčnosti in finančni stabilnosti podjetja. Pristop k trajnostnemu razvoju je predstavljen kot nujnost za ohranjanje konkurenčnosti na globalnem trgu in za zadostitev naraščajočim zakonodajnim zahtevam ter pričakovanjem deležnikov. Naloga je strukturirana tako, da najprej predstavi širši kontekst trajnostnega razvoja in nato preide na analizo specifičnih vidikov trajnosti, kot so okoljska, gospodarska in družbena (politična) trajnost. Na podlagi teoretičnih izhodišč se preučuje implementacija trajnostnih strategij v podjetju Marovt Group, vključno z empirično analizo konkretnih ukrepov in njihovih učinkov na podjetje ter njegovo okolje. Na koncu so predstavljena tudi priporočila za izboljšanje trajnostnih praks v podjetju Marovt Group.

Politika poslovanja bank

Abstract: Banke kot najpomembnejše finančne institucije igrajo ključno vlogo v finančnem sistemu vsake države. Od zgodnjih začetkov do sodobne dobe digitalizacije je bančništvo doživelo bistvene spremembe pri načinu izvajanja storitev, uporabi tehnologije, dostopnosti storitev ter splošnem poslovnem modelu. Diplomsko delo temelji na raziskovanju politike poslovanja bank, ki zajema niz načel, smernic, ciljev in strategij za dosledno, etično, učinkovito ter odgovorno delovanje banke. Opredelitev politike poslovanja bankam omogoča usklajeno ravnanje vseh njihovih udeležencev ter zagotavlja lažjo usmeritev pri doseganju poslovnih ciljev banke, hkrati pa upošteva družbene, etične, in trajnostne vidike njihovega delovanja. Kodeks poslovnega ravnanja banke postavlja smernice za transparentnost, integriteto in odgovorno poslovanje, s čimer prispeva k vzpostavitvi zaupanja med banko ter njenimi notranjimi in zunanjimi udeleženci, obenem pa k oblikovanju politike poslovanja, ki sledi najvišjim etičnim standardom in družbenim pričakovanjem. V empiričnem delu diplomskega dela smo analizirali politike poslovanja treh izbranih slovenskih bank, in sicer Nove Kreditne banke Maribor, d. d., Addiko banke, d. d. ter Nove Ljubljanske banke, d. d. Preučili smo skladnost in integriteto posamezne banke, kodeks poslovnega ravnanja in etike, politiko upravljanja tveganj ter družbeno odgovornost in trajnost bank

Nefinančni dejavniki uspešnosti kot izbrani vidik strateških usmeritev za trajnost podjetja: primer podjetja Luka Koper, d. d.

Abstract: Nefinančna uspešnost podjetij je v trenutnih časih vedno bolj pomembna zaradi vse večjega zavedanja o nujnosti ohranjanja okolja in družbe. Za ta namen se podjetja poslužujejo aktivnosti, ki so povezane s trajnostnim razvojem in svoje poslovanje usmerjajo v družbeno odgovorno smer. V magistrskem delu obravnavamo najprej v teoretičnem delu izbrane nefinančne dejavnike uspešnosti kot izbrane vidike strateških usmeritev za trajnost podjetja, pri katerih bomo izhajali iz MER modela integralnega managementa. Izbrani nefinančni dejavniki uspešnosti so trajnostni razvoj kot pristop k razvoju okolja, družbe in gospodarstva za zagotavljanje dolgoročne kakovosti in blaginje. Družbena odgovornost izhaja iz trajnostnega razvoja, a se natančneje nanaša tudi na podjetja - kako morajo delovati, sprejemati in prevzemati odgovornost vplivov svojega delovanja na družbo. Naslednji dejavnik je verodostojnost, ki predstavlja dejavnik, ki mora postati del kulture, da je podjetje vredno zaupanja in smatrano za verodostojno. Dejavnik kultura predstavlja nazore, vrednote, obnašanje, rituale in norme znotraj podjetja, zunaj podjetja pa se to kaže kot etika, ki se osredotoča na okolje in družbene odnose. Kot zadnji dejavnik opredeljujemo nefinančno uspešnost, ki izbrano združuje konkurenčnost, etiko, kulturo, učinkovitost in verodostojnost. V empiričnem delu naloge bomo aplicirali teoretična izhodišča nefinančnih dejavnikov uspešnosti na praktičen primer podjetja Luka Koper, d. d. Po opravljeni raziskavi oz. aplikaciji teorije podajamo tudi ugotovitve empiričnega dela ter predloge za razvoj in prakso podjetja.

SME top management perception of environmental uncertainty and gender differences during COVID-19

Abstract: Environmental scanning has become increasingly crucial for an organisation’s existence and a matter of interest for scholars and professionals. This research presents an outline of the situation in the field of multidimensional environmental scanning, focusing on Slovenian micro, small and medium sized organisations during the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, the paper aims to examine if top managers perceive the multidimensional (external) environment as uncertain and if there have been gender differences in multidimensional (external) environmental uncertainty perception during the COVID-19 pandemic. We researched the field of ecological, social, technological, economic, and political–legal environments. The nonparametric Mann–Whitney U test and descriptive statistics were used to test the research hypotheses. The results show that top managers are not aware enough of multidimensional environmental uncertainty. They do not perceive the ecological and social environment as unpredictable at all. Among the studied environments, they perceive the political–legal environment as most unpredictable. There are no statistically significant gender differences in perceptions of ecological, social, technological, economic, and political–legal environmental uncertainty. We suggest SME top managers pay more attention to environmental uncertainty and use environmental scanning methods to achieve more sustainable development.

Strategic transition to sustainability : a cybernetic model

Abstract: As the importance of the transition to sustainable development is increasingly recognised by individuals, organisations, and society as a whole, there is a growing need to examine its impact at micro-, meso-, and macro-levels. There is an urgent imperative to ensure the sustainability of growing economic inequalities, a degraded environment, and people living in uneven conditions in different societies. The authors, therefore, highlight the strategic role and essential contribution of organisations, and universities/higher education institutions in particular, in achieving sustainable development and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Universities/higher education institutions play a key role in fostering entrepreneurship and innovation, and they form the crucial architecture of contemporary practices in national economies and beyond. Policy makers, university/higher education institution governors, managers, and professors shape students and create new social contexts, and these must be oriented towards sustainability. This paper aims to explore the strategic role of organisations, in particular, universities/higher education institutions, as a key link between personal and social responsibility and, thus, as a powerful enabler of sustainable development. The authors examine the strategic transition to sustainability of two higher education institutions, the University of Maribor and the University of Economics—Varna, and conduct a qualitative case study research to develop a cybernetic model of the university’s/higher education institution’s transition to sustainability, which reflects the organisation’s growing commitment to achieving the Sustainability Development Goals. The model includes seven successive stages: pre-awareness, awareness, focusing, implementation, reaching out, transparency and disclosure, and continuous improvement. The study shows that sustainable development, i.e., sustainability governance, management, and operations, are indispensable for implementing the strategic concept of sustainability in an organisation and for achieving the strategic transition to sustainability as explained in the proposed cybernetic model.
