Podjetništvo v novi stvarnosti
Miroslav Rebernik, 2021

Entrepreneurship in a New Reality
Miroslav Rebernik, 2021

Abstract: Entrepreneurship is the strongest driver of economic growth and development and has a very large impact on overall social development. The Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) has a history of 22 years of entrepreneurship research, with a special focus on the earliest stages, when business opportunities are perceived and individuals decide whether to engage in entrepreneurship. Their direct living environment, especially the prevailing cultural values, the company's tendency to entrepreneurship and the orderliness of the business environment, have a great influence on the involvement of individuals in entrepreneurial activities. Accordingly, the conceptual framework of GEM is set, which enables the treatment of individuals and their attitude towards entrepreneurship, perception of entrepreneurship and involvement in the establishment and / or ownership and management of a company. With its help, we can therefore gain a deeper insight into national entrepreneurship and its characteristics and a more complete picture than can be provided by various statistical sources based solely on data obtained from existing companies.

Slovenska podjetja in značilnosti poslovnega prestrukturiranja
Dijana Močnik, Katja Crnogaj, Barbara Bradač Hojnik, Karin Širec, 2021

Abstract: V prvem delu raziskave smo se posvetili temeljni poslovni demografiji slovenskih podjetij in jo primerjali z evropsko.

A Variety of Entrepreneurial Motives
Miroslav Rebernik, Karin Širec, Polona Tominc, Katja Crnogaj, Matej Rus, Barbara Bradač Hojnik, 2020, scientific work

Abstract: In the world’s largest longitudinal survey, the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM), we have been exploring important features of entrepreneurship for 21 years, with particular emphasis on the earliest stages when business opportunities are perceived and individuals decide whether to engage in entrepreneurship. GEM was designed to (1) measure differences in attitudes towards entrepreneurship, activities and aspirations of individuals in as many countries as possible, (2) identify factors that encourage or hinder entrepreneurial activity, especially in relation to societal values, personal characteristics and the entrepreneurial ecosystem, (3) provide a platform for assessing the impact of entrepreneurial activity on economic growth in a given economy, and (4) identify the necessary policy measures to strengthen entrepreneurship. With the help of this research, we better understand society's attitude towards entrepreneurship and characteristics of the individual, such as perception of one's own abilities for entrepreneurial activity, ability to perceive opportunities, entrepreneurial intentions, and fear of failure. As GEM monitors entrepreneurial activity throughout the phases of the life cycle (nascent, new businesses and established businesses, discontinuation), according to impact (high growth, innovation, internationalization) and by type (early-stage entrepreneurship activity, employee entrepreneurship activity), the picture is much richer than the one that is based only on data gathered from ordinary statistical databases.

Raznolikost podjetniških motivov
Miroslav Rebernik, Karin Širec, Polona Tominc, Katja Crnogaj, Matej Rus, Barbara Bradač Hojnik, 2020, scientific work

Slovenska podjetja in izzivi transformiranja poslovanja

Naslednji poglavji monografije sta povezani s transformacijo poslovanja podjetij, izkoriščanje druge priložnosti in krožno gospodarstvo. V poglavju o drugi priložnosti smo proučevali pravne, družbene in individualne vidike tega koncepta.

Abstract: The present scientific monograph was formed on the occasion of the anniversary celebrated in the academic year 2017/2018 by current and former members of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Business Economics, and the members of the Institute of Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management at the University of Maribor. Twenty-five years – a quarter of a century – is a period after which it is worth looking back on the past and summing up the memories of the achievements and milestones that have marked it. The monograph is also an acknowledgment and tribute to the initiator and founder of the first study track for entrepreneurship education, and the head of the Department and Institute, Professor Doctor Miroslav Rebernik. The collection of selected scientific contributions is thus put together in such a way that he is the co-author of all of them, with individual members of the Department. A collection was created that chronologically presents some of the most visible contributions of the 25-year period. We would like to thank all publishing houses that approved the reprint of the contributions.

Slovenska podjetja in krožno gospodarstvo

V EU-28 in Sloveniji so največ dodane vrednosti ustvarila podjetja predelovalnih dejavnosti.

Dynamics of entrepreneurial potential
Miroslav Rebernik, Katja Crnogaj, Karin Širec, Barbara Bradač Hojnik, Matej Rus, Polona Tominc, 2017, scientific monograph

Abstract: The book presents the results of the largest longitudinal study of entrepreneurship in the world, the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor. It is based on data collected in 2016 and before, and deals with the interconnectedness of entrepreneurship and economic development. This monograph brings the results of the study of entrepreneurship in Slovenia and compares them with the results of other countries. It is based on a joint methodology and performed within a closely linked and interconnected global network of researchers, allowing detailed international comparisons. The book enables a better understanding of societal values about entrepreneurship and the specific individual characteristics of persons, such as their perception of their own entrepreneurial capabilities, their ability to perceive business opportunities, their entrepreneurial intentions and their fear of failure. Because the survey monitored entrepreneurial activity in all phases of the life cycle (nascent, new and established businesses, business discontinuation), and according to the impact and type of activity, it delivers a comprehensive picture of entrepreneurship processes and their ecosystem. A substantial amount of attention is also devoted to entrepreneurial aspirations and the quality of the entrepreneurship ecosystem, since the latter may significantly foster (or constrain) entrepreneurial processes in a society.

Growth aspirations of Slovenian entrepreneurs - a gender differences perspective
Polona Tominc, Miroslav Rebernik, 2006, review article

Abstract: This paper aims at describing and explaining the differences in the growth aspirations of male and female entrepreneurs in Slovenia, especially of those who are in the early stage of entrepreneurial activity. The paper is based on Global Entrepreneurship Monitor data. Explanatory variables affecting growth aspirations of early-stage entrepreneurs are related to the personal characteristics of entrepreneurs - their entrepreneurial capacity (skills and motivation), as well as to the environmental characteristics regarding cultural and social support for the entrepreneurship and, to some extent, also to firm characteristics, especially the age of the firm. All these topics are analysed on the basis of gender differences.
