Absorptive and transformative capacities in nanotechnology innovation systems
Krsto Pandža, Robin Holt, 2007, original scientific article

Abstract: We identify managerial challenges offered by an emergent nanotechnology innovation system in which knowledge is dispersed, asymmetric and contested. We argue the proposed models of knowledge absorption and transformation enhance existing theories of knowledge and emergent technology by recognizing how and why knowledge flows among the actors in emergent technology innovationsystem. We base our argument on combined research evidence from a Delphi study concerning the future of European manufacturing, from which a selected statement has been analyzed, and from analysis of the NanoManufacturing Institute at Leeds University, UK; specifically its work in building ties between different actors associated with nanotechnology. We conclude our paper with suggestions for future research.

Strategic management of advanced manufacturing technology
Krsto Pandža, Andrej Polajnar, Borut Buchmeister, 2005, original scientific article

Abstract: The aim of this paper is threefold. First, it discusses the role of advanced manufacturing technology (AMT) within a strategic management context of a manufacturing organisation. Resource-based view is presented as a useful theoretical school for understanding strategic management of AMT. Second, a brief case from a manufacturing organisation is provided to illustrate the debate. In the reported case study, the relevant mechanisms for understanding capability accumulation process and the role of AMT within this process are depicted. Third, a framework of resources and capabilities is proposed in order to increase applicability of presented theoretical ideas.

Absorptive capacity in European manufacturing: a Delphi study
Petra Jung Erceg, Krsto Pandža, Heidi Armbruster, Carsten Dreher, 2007, original scientific article

Abstract: This paper sets out to discuss the results of a specific part of a Europe-wide Delphi study that considers issues of absorptive capacity in European manufacturing. Owing to the importance to competitiveness of increasing innovative capabilities in manufacturing it is highly relevant to explore how a wide community of manufacturing experts experience the phenomenon of absorptive capacity and sense future developments. A two round Delphi method was designed in which more than 3,000 experts from 22 European countries assessed 101 statements. This paper discusses eight statements focused on the issue of absorptive capacity. The results show a general consensus about the influence of different inter-firm relationships in acquiring external knowledge and a diversified knowledge structure for assimilating the acquired knowledge. The study also indicates some potential challenges and contradictions in managing inter-firm relationships and knowledge diversity aswell as perceived barriers for future developments of absorptive capacity. Delphi survey is an empirical method subject to the limitation of testing or inductively building theoretical concepts. The results of the Delphi study arepredominantly centred on policy implication and on informing strategic decision-making at manufacturing firms. This paper discusses one of the biggest Delphi surveys ever conducted in Europe. Its comprehensiveness increases the value of the results.

Proizvodna strategija, podprta s teorijo proizvodnih virov

Abstract: V današnjem času postajajo kupci vse bolj zahtevni oziroma vedno težje je zadovoljiti njihove želje in zahteve.
