Voda kot pedogenetski dejavnik v porečju Sotle

Abstract: Prst nastaja in se razvija na stiku prepletanja in medsebojnega delovanja vseh sestavin pokrajine, tudi hidrosfere. Ugotoviti želimo, kako vodni viri v porečju Sotle vplivajo na značilnosti prsti, saj je poznavanje teh zakonitosti pomembno za usmerjanje rabe tal in s tem za varovanje prsti. V ta namen smo porečje Sotle razdelili v pet hidrografskih območij in jih primerjali glede na vodne in pedološke značilnosti ter pri tem upoštevali značilnosti rabe tal. Glavni poudarek smo dali metodi analize z GIS-i. Porečje Sotle leži ob slovensko-hrvaški meji in je izrazito asimetrično. Rečna mreža je gosta, prisotne pa so tudi številne stoječe vode. Od rabe tal prevladuje gozd, sledijo travniki in pašniki, njive, pozidana zemljišča, vinogradi, sadovnjaki, drevesa in grmičevje, mokrišča in barjanski travniki. Od prsti prevladujejo evtrične in distrične rjave, medtem ko hriboviti svet prekrivajo rendzine, rankerji in rjave pokarbonatne prsti. Vinogradniške lege označujejo rigolane prsti, v rečnih dolinah pa prevladujejo obrečne prsti na ilovnatem aluviju, oglejene in psevdooglejene prsti. Površinske vode, ki so v veliki meri podvržene človekovemu delovanju, imajo v porečju Sotle velik učinek na prsti, kar se odraža tudi v rabi zemljišč. Tako se v porečju Sotle pojavlja velik delež njivskih zemljišč, ki so najobsežnejša na holocenskih ravnicah ob Sotli, Mestinjščici in Bistrici, kjer prevladujejo hidromorfne prsti.

GHG emissions reduction based on a heuristic optimization approach

Abstract: Since the transport causes about 26% of global CO2 emissions, the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) is becoming increasingly necessary. To achieve this objective, several approaches were adopted, like for example the employment of alternative sustainable technologies, or the enforcement of changes in driving skills. In contrast with this kind of approaches, an interesting approach is to reduce the vehicle miles of travel (VMT). In this paper, the concept of VMT reduction based on a heuristic optimization approach is introduced. The suitability of this concept has been tested for the School Bus Routing Problem (SBRP). Working mechanisms of the adopted heuristic optimization algorithms are briefly explained. As can be seen from the results, the optimization of bus stops, bus routes and driving schedules can significantly reduce the amount of VMT and consequently the amount of CO2 emissions.

Reconstruction of delivery positions in the city of Celje, Slovenia

Abstract: The paper addresses the problem of the reconstruction and allocation of delivery positions in the urban area. The aim is to achieve the optimal reorganization of urban freight transport in old town core in the municipality of Celje. Optimal allocation relies on optimization based on the Monte Carlo simulation and represents a first stage of a two-stage optimization approach to re-design the existing urban freight transport. The number of optimal delivery positions is required to be as minimal as possible, which can still assure a maximal service area within the prescribed radius, while keeping the minimal walking distances of delivery personnel between the nearest delivery position and the customerʼs physical location. The main issues of the used heuristic allocation algorithm and the presentation of calculated results are provided. In the near future, the calculated delivery positions are going to be used for the purpose of physical implementation in order to improve the existing delivery transport.

Optimizacija poti mesečnega popisa merilnih naprav za večstanovanjske objekte in industrijo v izbranem podjetju

Abstract: Uspešno organiziranje transporta zahteva reševanje različnih problemov na strateškem, operativnem in taktičnem nivoju. Dobro definiran plan vožnje namreč lahko v precejšnji meri prispeva k zniževanju transportnih stroškov. S čim bolj optimalnim planom voženj se zmanjša število prevoženih kilometrov in za to potreben čas. Prav tako pa lahko optimalna izvedba voženj pripomore k zmanjšanju števila vozil in enakomernejši obremenitvi le-teh. V magistrskem delu bomo izvedli optimizacijo poti mesečnega popisa merilnih naprav za večstanovanjske objekte in industrijo, ki ga za potrebe obračuna komunalnih dobrin izvaja Komunalno podjetje Velenje, d.o.o. na območju Šaleške doline. Transportno omrežje Šaleške doline bomo z razširitvijo programa ArcGIS (imenovano Network Analyst) preoblikovali v model omrežja in nato s programom ArcLogistics izvedli optimizacijo poti ter primerjali sedanje stanje popisovanja merilnih naprav in stanje po optimizaciji z vidika skrajšanja poti, časa ter delovnih dni.

Opportunities for incorporating geography into the river basin management

Abstract: Geography in Slovenia is not sufficiently involved in the management of river basins, since it has not won its place in the interdisciplinary education of water managers and has also not been sufficiently present in practice. We designed a model of geographical approach to integrated management of water resources which is presented on the example of the Sotla river basin. We considered the river basin with its inner diversity and heterogeneity as a basic spatial unit of management. To realize our commitments to the environment we need their spatial placement that can be offered by geography. This approach would be a supplement to present sustainable strategies of water management and it could be applied into practice by appropriate study programmes in geography.

Port hinterland modelling based on port choice

Abstract: This paper presents a new approach for hinterland modelling based on the results of port choice modelling. The paper follows the idea that the shippers' port choice is a trade-off between various objective and subjective factors. The presented model tackles the problem by applying the AHP method in order to obtain ports' preference rates based on subjective factors, and combine them with objective factors, which include port operation costs, sailing times, and land transport costs using MILP. The ports' hinterlands are modelled by finding the optimal port of choice for different locations across Europe and merging the identical results. The model can be used in order to produce captive hinterland of ports and can also be exploited in order to analyse how changes in the traffic infrastructure influence the size of hinterlands.

Digital spatial data as support for river basin management

Abstract: Many real-world spatially related problems, including river-basin planning and management, give rise to geographical information system based decision making, since the performance of spatial policy alternatives were traditionally and are still often represented by thematic maps. Advanced technologies and approaches, such as geographical information systems (GIS), offer a unique opportunity to tackle spatial problems traditionally associated with more efficient and effective data collection, analysis, and alternative evaluation. This paper discusses the advantages and challenges of the use of digital spatial data and geographical information systems in river basis management. Spatial data on social, environmental and other spatial conditions for the study area of 451.77 km2, the Slovenian part of the Sotla river basin, are used to study the GIS capabilities of supporting spatial decisions in the framework of river basin management.
