Bolj natančno s programoma QGIS in ArcGIS Pro. S primerjavo in analizo v obeh programih smo prišli do zaključka.

Creating vector profile graph in ArcGIS Pro based on hiking trail tracking with AllTrails app
Klemen Prah, 2024, original scientific article

Abstract: This paper proposes a model for creating a vector profile graph in ArcGIS Pro based on AllTrails tracking. The vector profile graph is important for route’s geometric measurements and spatial analysis in GIS. The model was created in an Excel table, based on the AllTrails output Excel data, and implemented in ArcGIS Pro. A model needed to be equipped with several attributes, including the coordinates of the initial and all other points of the vector profile graph. The same Excel model was also used to create a vector profile graph based on the output of the Stack Profile tool. The two vector profile graphs were compared with each other. Comparison showed significant differences in elevation and surface distance between them. In general, the profile graph created using the Stack Profile tool shows lower elevations and shorter surface distance. This study also points out the issues of positional error that can occur when tracking routes with smartphones, and the discrepancies in creating vector profile graphs using different approaches.

Optimizacija transportnih poti in stroškov distribucije vozil z uporabo programa ArcGis : diplomsko delo

V nalogi smo analizirali trenutne transportne poti in z uporabo programskega orodja ArcGIS Pro modelirali predlog izboljšanih poti.

Spatial modelling of the transport mode choice : application on the Vienna transport network
Simona Šinko, Bojan Rupnik, Klemen Prah, Tomaž Kramberger, 2021, original scientific article

Abstract: A new approach for spatial modelling of transport mode choice is presented in the paper. The approach tackles the problem by considering the trade-off between subjective and objective factors. To obtain mode Preference Rates (PRs) based on subjective factors, the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method is applied. The objective factors are expressed with the journey time from any point in the map to destination according to the available transport mode choice on the specific connection. The results are presented as PRs of individual transport modes. The model is validated on the con-ducted the survey, with students of Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU) as a target audience. Members of different target groups (age, national, employment) decide differently regarding the transport choice, so it is better to analyse them separately. The presented model can be used for the city transport planning in any urban area. It can help promote the sustainable modes of transport in the areas that are less adjusted in sustainable manner.

Patricija Rijavec, 2024, undergraduate thesis

Spatial modelling of modal shift due to COVID-19
Simona Šinko, Klemen Prah, Tomaž Kramberger, 2021, original scientific article

Abstract: The outbreak of COVID-19 caused many changes in people's life. One of the most significant is the travel behaviour and transport mode choice. This study focus on the changes that the inhabitants of Vienna made in their travel choices because of the virus. The same research about spatial modelling the transport mode choice of commuters in Vienna was completed in 2019 and is a topic addressed in our previous work. Based on our developed methodology, this article indicates that public transport is not a dominant transport mode choice as it was before the virus outbreak. The main result of this paper is geographically defined areas of application of individual alternatives shown on the final map of modal shift in Vienna, which could provide theoretical support for policy-makers and transportation planners. For the city of Vienna, we found that the area of the city where cars are now used has increased, which certainly has a negative impact on air quality and life in the city. The advantage of the methodology is that it can also be applied to other cities in the world.

Optimal bus stops' allocation : a school bus routing problem with respect to terrain elevation
Klemen Prah, Abolfazl Keshavarzsaleh, Tomaž Kramberger, Borut Jereb, Dejan Dragan, 2018, original scientific article

Abstract: The paper addresses the optimal bus stops allocation in the Laško municipality. The goal is to achieve a cost reduction by proper re-designing of a mandatory pupils' transportation to their schools. The proposed heuristic optimization algorithm relies on data clustering and Monte Carlo simulation. The number of bus stops should be minimal possible that still assure a maximal service area, while keeping the minimal walking distances children have to go from their homes to the nearest bus stop. The working mechanism of the proposed algorithm is explained. The latter is driven by three-dimensional GIS data to take into account as much realistic dynamic properties of terrain as possible. The results show that the proposed algorithm achieves an optimal solution with only 37 optimal bus stops covering 94.6 % of all treated pupils despite the diversity and wideness of municipality, as well as the problematic characteristics of terrains' elevation. The calculated bus stops will represent important guidelines to their actual physical implementation.

Electric vehicle charging stations coverage : a study of Slovenia
Klemen Prah, Mark Kmetec, Matjaž Knez, 2022, original scientific article

Abstract: To promote the penetration of electric vehicles (EVs), it is of great importance to plan and construct charging stations rationally. In this sense, the state of Slovenia's charging station coverage was analysed. Using discrete and network geographic information system (GIS) models, with ArcGIS software, the density of electric vehicle charging stations (EVCSs), geographic distribution, nearness along a street network, and clustering analyses were performed. A survey conducted among Slovenian users of EVs supported the GIS analysis. It was found out that the distribution of EVCSs has an east-northeast to west-southwest directional trend. Only 13% of EVCSs are accessible from the nearest motorway at a distance of 500 meters or less. An insight into intrinsic clustering structure revealed 11 clusters of EVCSs from which the most distinct is the cluster on the area of Ljubljana. The scientific contribution of the research is in the integration of GIS, spatial analysis and the results of a survey to study the coverage of EVCSs in a certain region. Spatial analyses are carefully selected, and, in complementarity, give a comprehensive picture of EVCSs coverage. The research is important for further spatial planning of EVCSs.

GIS pri načrtovanju in spremljanju migracijskih tokov : diplomsko delo univerzitetnega študijskega programa
Jan Kellner, 2023, undergraduate thesis

Abstract: Za učinkovito spremljanje migracijskih tokov potrebujemo primerno orodje, ki bo omogočilo obdelavo in pregleden prikaz podatkov o migracijah.
