The effect of biochar applied alone and in combination with mineral and organic fertilisers on the yield of white cabbage and soil properties
Manfred Jakop, Nataša Belšak Šel, Erik Rihter, Tjaša Cenčič, Dušan Klinar, Denis Stajnko, Silva Grobelnik Mlakar, 2023, original scientific article

Abstract: The study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of biochar application on fertile soils in a temperate climate during the first year of application. The field trial was conducted on a nutrient-rich silt loam soil at two experimental sites in north-eastern Slovenia (Biš and Skorba). The effect of biochar applied alone or in combination with compost or mineral fertiliser on soil properties and yield of white cabbage was studied. In addition to the control (C), the soil received five treatments including biochar (B; 1.5 t/ha), compost (CO; 1.5 t/ha), biochar-mixed compost (BCO; 3.0 t/ha), standard mineral fertilisers (NPK; NPK 0.35 t/ha, potassium sulphate 0.25 t/ha and calcium ammonium nitrate 0.25 t/ha) and combined application of half the amount of NPK and BCO (NPK+BCO). The results showed that the applied treatments had no significant influence on the measured soil chemical parameters, except for the amount of total organic carbon, electrical conductivity and pH in Biš and total carbon in Skorba. All investigated parameters (cabbage head weight, head circumference, total and market yield) were higher at the experimental site Skorba. Statistically significant differences were found only at the experimental site Biš, where the treatment influenced all parameters (p < 0.01), except for the head circumference of the cabbage. The NPK and NPK+BCO treatments produced significantly higher total yields (66.7 t/ha and 65.8 t/ha, respectively) and marketable yields (53.2 t/ha and 51.8 t/ha, respectively) compared to the other treatments (41.3-52.6 t/ha and 30.5-42.4 t/ha, respectively). Although the differences between the other treatments were insignificant, a trend of decreasing cabbage yields towards CO > BCO > B was observed. Similar results were also obtained when analysing the average data of the two experimental sites.

Alen Oset, 2024, undergraduate thesis

Abstract: V diplomskem delu je predstavljen postopek konstruiranja 3D modela dvigala za železne palice. Ta bo rešil problem napornega in nevarnega ročnega nalaganja palic v podajalno napravo. S pomočjo teoretičnih osnov o varnosti strojev in raziskave trga nalagalnikov palic smo izbrali tri različne dvižne mehanizme.

Abstract: The aim of this study was to conduct a systematic review of the school-based exercise programs for promoting cardiorespiratory fitness in overweight and obese children aged 6 to 10. Electronic databases (Web of Science and PubMed) were used as searching tools for collecting adequate studies published in the past 20 years. A total of 13 studies met the criteria for inclusion in this review, with a total of 2810 participants, both male and female. According to the results of this systematic review, overweight and obese children aged 6 to 10 who underwent certain interventions had their CRF improved. Furthermore, evidence suggested that interventions carried out during a longer period of time suggested led to greater improvement of cardiorespiratory fitness than a shorter one, but the level of cardiorespiratory fitness gradually decreases after the intervention.

A novel system for quasi-continuous THz signal transmission and reception
Andrej Sarjaš, Blaž Pongrac, Dušan Gleich, 2022, original scientific article

Abstract: This paper presents a novel system for generating and receiving quasi-continuous (QC) TeraHertz (THz) waves. A system design and theoretical foundation for QC-THz signal generation are presented. The proposed QC-THz system consists of commercially available photo-conductive antennas used for transmission and reception of THz waves and a custom-designed QC optical signal generator, which is based on a fast optical frequency sweep of a single telecom distributedfeedback laser diode and unbalanced optical fiber Michelson interferometer used for a high-frequency modulation. The theoretical model for the proposed system is presented and experimentally evaluated. The experimental results were compared to the state-of-the-art continuous-wave THz system. The comparison between the continuous-wave THz system and the proposed QC-THz system showed the ability to transmit and receive QC-THz waves up to 300 GHz. The upper-frequency limit is bounded by the length of the used Michelson interferometer. The presented design of THz signal generation has a potential for industrial application because it is cost-efficient and can be built using commercially available components.

Toward embedded system resources relaxation based on the event-triggered feedback control approach
Andrej Sarjaš, Dušan Gleich, 2022, original scientific article

Abstract: The paper describes an event-triggered nonlinear feedback controller design. Event triggering is a real-time controller implementation technique which reduces embedded system utilization and relaxes task scheduling of the real-time system. In contrast to classic time implementation techniques, the event-triggered execution is validated regarding the introduced triggering policy. The triggering rule is a boundary, where the last task value is preserved until the rule is violated. In the given paper, two different event-triggered strategies are designed for the class of dynamic systems with integral behavior. Both methods are based on sliding mode controller design, where the triggering rule of the first design involves only a partial state vector, which is a direct consequence of the triggering rule derivation throughout the Lyapunov stability analysis. In the second approach, the sliding mode controller is designed upon prior stabilized systems with the additional term, which enables derivation of the triggering rule based on the whole state vector. The second approach offers better closed-loop performance and higher relaxation of the system utilization. The selection of triggering boundary is related closely to the derived minimal inter-event time, which impacts the computational burden of the real-time system and closed-loop performance directly. The derived controllers are compared with the classic sample and hold implementation techniques. The real-time results are presented, and system performances are confirmed regarding embedded system task relaxation, lowering the computational intensity and preserving closed-loop dynamics.

44th International Conference on Organizational Science Development : Human Being, Artificial Intelligence and Organization, Conference Proceedings
2025, proceedings of peer-reviewed scientific conference contributions (international and foreign conferences)

Abstract: The 44th International Scientific Conference on the Development of Organisational Science was focused on developing and advancing knowledge in the organisational sciences, with a focus on the contemporary challenges and opportunities of our time. On the one hand, it is humans who have woven the knowledge of organisations and will continue to enrich the knowledge of organisations in the future. On the other hand, we need to take into account the situational factors and the wider environment that are intrinsic to understanding organisations. The title of this year's conference is: Human being, Artificial Intelligence and the Organisation. The society we live in today is going through a period of great change in various areas of our lives. Although our pace sometimes stops, the forces of the environment do not. The pace of change often no longer surprises us. But the pillars of our action, the achievements of human society, are something of which we can be justly proud. Artificial intelligence is one of the forces that has entered our everyday lives in many places in recent times. Where are the opportunities and where are the dangers of artificial intelligence, where is human intelligence still a significant step ahead of artificial intelligence?

Distributed energy resource operation analysis using discrete event-simulation
Bojan Rupnik, Dušan Kragelj, Simona Šinko, Tomaž Kramberger, 2020, original scientific article

Abstract: This paper presents a discrete-event simulation (DES) approach for simulation of distributed energy resources (DER). The DES approach provides means to adapt the energy workloads of the system according to any variations of demands that can occur due to temperature regulation requirements or operational demands. Along with a basic model based on a concrete DER configuration, additional models are presented and analysed in order to demonstrate the adaptability of the DES approach to analyse alternative configurations. The models were tested on historical energy consumption data in order to provide the expected workloads and costs. Models are capable to predict the amount of three different energies and cost for the company based on the inside and outside temperatures.

Poslovni načrt za odprtje kozmetičnega salona za manikiro Rock your nails
Mateja Vukota, 2022, undergraduate thesis
